I watched Michael Powell's 'Peeping Tom', the film that basically ended his UK career, and thought it was terrific. I loved its focus on voyeurism and obsession with film and moving image - way ahead of its time in terms of ideas. No surprise, really, that it was slated by critics when it came out.

Member number 33 of the "100 free films in 2011" club. I saw 20, interestingly enough. My more realistic target was to see more free films than TheyCallMeMrGlass. I lost.

Enchanted. Because I needed glitter and singing birds.
That was better than I expected. I don't know Amy Adams that much but I loved her naiveté - same for Patrick Dempsey, except I really can't stand his face.

I watched the first epsidoe of the apprentice... very good, he sent home the correct person! Well done Lord Sugar
A horse walks into a bar and the bartender asks, "Why the long face?"

A pony walks into the bar and whispers, "I'll have a beer, please." The barkeeper asks, "Why are you whispering?".
"I'm a little hoarse."

Homeland - the plot thickens

Alcatraz - plots just plain bonkers, but Sam Neill wil keep me engaged, hes got creepy class. But whoever wrote this show, I want what (s)he's smoking.

Doctor Who Series 3! - finally started this. Despite some hammy and horrible acting (although Martha is an improvement on the bland Rose, shes not much of an improvement lol), I am actually getting in to this even though I'm hardly a tween. Tennant will always be the real 'new' Doctor.
fav 5 films of the year - Tenet, Bill n Ted 3, Invisible Man, JoJo Rabbit, ?

I watched The King and I at Stockport Plaza, what a brilliant show. The King and Miss Anna were amazing it was hard to believe that they are amateurs, I've been humming (I can't sing) "Shall we Dance" ever since. :D

A bit delayed here but thought I'd give a shout-out to 'Bug' on Flim4 on Saturday night.
That was really disturbing and quite freaky to be frank.

Great performance by Michael Shannon and Ashley Judd.

I know it wasn't last night, and I'm not sure if it was shown throughout the UK, but I watched the programme "High School" on BBC 1 about life in Hoyrood High School, Glasgow. This episode concerned a group of senior pupils going to Malawi to help build classrooms for a school. I have to say I was moved to tears by the joy in the faces of the little children in Malawi who each received a back-pack full of goodies donated by the pupils. I have never seen so many children so happy . . . . the contents were pencil cases, coloured pencils, toothbrush, dress, t-shirt, etc. The Holyrood pupils were visibly moved by the poverty of the children and how much a simple thing such as a cup meant to them. The cup was essential as the children were given a meal when they attended school and often this was there only meal. The meals are provided by the charity Mary's Meals which was set up specifically to feed schoolchildren. If you get the chance to watch this programme . . . . .DO! It may be it was only on BBC Scotland at 9pm but you may be able to find it online. It was wonderful to see our young people affected by the lives of other children and not just looking after no.1. Their lives will be changed for the experience they had . . . and mine will be altered by having watched them!
Preferred cinemas: Best: Glasgow Quay, Glasgow Braehead, Glasgow Renfield Street, Glasgow Fort & Paisley
Others I'd go to: Glasgow Showcase Baillieston
