Re: Weight Watchers
Good morning everyone.
What are you having to eat today Preston1990? I'm having all bran for breakfast, garlic sausage with rocket on a wholemeal roll and a yoghurt for lunch and for dinner its vegetable kebabs (peppers, mushrooms, tomatoes and onions) with hot chilli sauce on a pitta bread I have so much veg in it its delicious. Have a fun day at the National Trust and a lovely walk.

Re: Weight Watchers
Morning All,
It sounds like you are really being good Diane - Well done.
I am a great fan of vegetables too, and I've stocked up with a load of cellery, green beans and carrots, which I'm particularly partial to.
It's porridge and black coffee for me this morning so that's pretty good too.
I got rid of another 2 of the dreaded Creme Eggs via the kid's packed lunches today. Yes I know, that's kinda bad for them - but hey it's good for me.
Does anyone else notice that whenever you try to give kids completely healthy packed lunches, they just don't eat them? Last year we had a pear that had travelled back and forth to school over the course of the week more times than some of the kids. It became like a psychological game with no-one willing to admit defeat. In the end I had to give up and bin the thing as it was in such a state.
I had loads of salad with just a very small amount of dressing (admittedly, not low fat though
) with a fabulously yummy piece of Tuna for lunch yesterday.
For dinner I had loads of nice vegetables (good) with a small (well OK, if I'm being honest not that small) piece of Steak and Onion pie (v bad). I did resist my usual high fat snacking for the rest of the night though by eating the odd stick of celery - so was quite pleased with myself for that.
Just wondering about today's planned National Trust walk - it's got to be the worst weather for ages in the Northeast at the moment. It's raining heavily now, and it's forcasted to be that way all day.
It's likely that my good intentions will be scuppered by my friend who I suspect may well want to adjourn to a pub instead which could just throw a spanner in the works.
Are people planning to take a note of their starting weights (obviously not publishing these though
) and revealing the actual weight they lose as we go along?

Re: Weight Watchers
Great work on the food planning Diane65 & Preston1990!
Preston, I think you can still find less bad choices at the pub - they often do salads (dressing on the side), or order a bunch of side vegetables. A steak is not too bad if not with chips etc... plus you're allowed to treat yourself...!

Re: Weight Watchers
Thanks for the encouragement and good suggestions anakin.
Well done on joining the gym rawr_xoxo - that deal with the "keep going" incentive sounds like a great idea.
Well, I'm just back from my NT day out. I found an even better way to diet than eating sensible stuff in a local pub. Eat in the National Trust cafe! It was so expensive that I couldn't afford anything approaching a full meal.
A smallish jacket potato with tiny amount of tuna/mayonaise filling and an Earl Grey tea with a slice of lemon was £10.
Maybe I'm just out of touch but that seems like a lot to me. I'll be taking picnic food and a flask next time.
Had a great chat with my old school pal that I haven't seen in 30 odd years. The best thing is like me he's overweight and taken early retirement too, so we've agreed to meet up regularly and do some walking together.
It'll be like "Last of the Summer Wine" LOL.
:On Soapbox Mode:
I know the National Trust are a charity, but I don't think that they do themselves any favours by charging these really high prices both for entry membership and shop prices. If they charged less more people would be able to afford to go.
Standard Family membership this year was around £91 although I believe they have discounted that in a special promotion to around £69. That's quite a lot for most families to find these days. If you wanted English Heritage membership as well presumably that would be an additional similar amount too.
.........And that is why, until a couple of weeks ago, I had decided to let my membership lapse.
.........And then I found out a bit of information that threw me into a real moral dilema.
I discovered that there was a way of being able to get perfectly legitimate annual family entry into both NT and EH properties for a much more afordable total of £41. Unfortunately none of that money goes to NT or EH (hence the moral dilema) but these days saving money can be quite crucial for families.
It was with some reluctance that I actually went ahead and did this - salving my conscience in part with thoughts that at least these organisations will get some revenue from my visits when my kids b*y drinks, sweets, ice creams and other things from their shops. If we never went at all they would get nothing.
:Off Soapbox Mode:
.........And breathe!

So how often are people getting weighed? Every week? every day?

Re: Weight Watchers
Well done for picking a healthy option at the cafe - I know it was expensive but it's easy to get a piece of cake to go with the tea! And you're right a tenner for a spud and tea is crazy.
I agree about the prices being extortionate. I couldn't believe how much it was to go and see stonehenge when I was at uni. I was skint and even with the discounted price it was ridiculous. And it's not like you got anything extra by going in, just a bit closer! And the stuff in the shop... well...

Re: Weight Watchers
Oh yes - I meant to say.
Even though I'd b*ght the world's most expensive Jacket potato, I actually left the two packs of butter that came with it on the side of my plate. At those NT prices, that was probably about 3 quids worth. But I felt really smug and self satisfied that I was doing the healthy eating thing.

Re: Weight Watchers
Well done Preston1990 with your healthy if expensive lunch.
How fab being able to take early retirement and loads of opportunties to fit in exercise. I've got a lovely recipe for chilli made with green beans, celery and carrots - I love spicy food.
Just found some delicious pitta bread with coriander and garlic from Asda (2 packs of 6 for £1) so had my kebab in one tonight and put sweet chilli sauce on it. I tend to use balsamic vinegar rather than salad dressing as it has fewer calories or a small portion of natural yogurt instead of mayonnaise.
Shall we do weekly weigh ins? Well done rawr-oxo you're so trim anyway but still so disciplined.
