Just realised than Minny and her fried chicken "Fried chicken just tend to make you feel better about life." reminded me a lot of Bubba (Forrest Gump) and his shrimps!
Adorable!

Re: The Help
The Vue Omni, Edinburgh checked everyone's ID tonight which was the first time I had been asked for any ID here. Gave us a goody bag as we went into the screening. Told to move up and not leave empty spaces as they said it was going to be a full house but there were plenty of empty seats so I guess the staff took the leftover goodies home.
The film was excellent and the two hours twenty minutes flew by. 9/10

Re: The Help
This film is balls. Let's start with the humour, because this is one of the most unfunny films I've ever seen. It got about 5 laughs out of our audience by just repeating the word shit. There are no characters in this film, just the evil one, the earnest one, the chubby eccentric one, the senile eccentric one etc. Surely noone can justify the 'comedy' of the fat one going insane and grabbing a stick to attack Jessica Chastain's husband, just because he drove up his own drive way? Emma Stone crying because people say she's ugly, she's clearly stunning. It is almost unbelievably heavy-handed, sappy, earnest and worthy. 2 hours 20 minutes!!! I though for sure they couldn't stretch this much beyond 1 hour 40. Then again, I didn't know that they spend a whole half an hour building up to separate end points which sadly did not actually turn out to be the end until, well, the end.

This is actually completely understandable.RioBravo wrote: Surely noone can justify the 'comedy' of the fat one going insane and grabbing a stick to attack Jessica Chastain's husband, just because he drove up his own drive way?
Up to this point in the film, Minny had not met Cynthia's husband so when a white man approaches a black woman with an offer to help, it is logical that she would be frightened for her safety.
