Hanna on Thursday.
Hi Diane65, I made the same decision as you had tickets for The Way and Hanna and decided on The Way as also had Hanna tickets for Thursday at Trafford Centre. Did you attend tonight?

I turned up for The Way only to be told there was a delay, when I went into the screen itself I asked how long the delay was and was told hopefully it would start at 7.10pm, the courier had only arrived with the film an hour ago and they had to set it up and that if I wanted I could go out and come back no problem, which I did. At that time there did seem quite a few people seated. I came back at 7.10pm, still no film, there seemed less people now and sat down expecting it to start shortly and 15 mins later, just as I had decided I had had enough and was ready to leave, they came in and apologised said there were problems loading the film. They said it would be at least another 1/2 hour and no definite promise it would get sorted. They gave us the option of another film tonight, but to be honest not much on at that time that I hadnt already seen, or the choice of a ticket to use at another time at any Odeon. As the only film I fancied Source Code was not on for 50 mins I opted for the free ticket.

Quite a few people had left earlier and missed out on the free tickets.

I was a bit disappointed as I spent time deciding which to film to watch and then saw none and not sure I will actually get around to seeing this now, will probably opt for Source Code instead.

Saw this film this evening in Glasgow Parkhead. Never been there before and it took me a while to actually find the car park of the cinema. Met Stuartboy for the very first time and saw Cheeksdevil briefly whilst egressing from the car park.

I enjoyed the film. It was slow moving and beautiful acted out by the leads. I felt more for Matin Sheen's character in 5 minutes than I did for Rpatz in the entire time of WFE. Sometimes I felt I was finding my way with the characters, each looking or searching for something. A wee bit like Stand by Me I guess. Not sure why Premier christian media were the promoters for this film as for me religion or faith finding was not the main focus. Not looked into my wee bag of "goodies" yet.

Went to see this tonight at Liverpool 1, not the usual crowd, but that could have been my imagination?? Im sure there was the usual crowd dotted around, but there were a few coach "church" groups there which in all fairness, you dont usually see at the previews. Better than I expected. I knew it was going to be a long film, but went faster than I expected. Emilio looks more like his father everyday. Both Estevez senior and junior where excellent. His directing was excellent and the cast were all excellent. Inspirational and uplifting. Loved the development of the main four characters with each other and themselves. Im sure there will be a few people who would think about attempting this pilgrim. Unless theres a pub with the name, no pilgrim for me, but thoroughly enjoyed their journeys. Nice touch at the end with dedicating it to Emilos grandfather/Ramons father!! 8/10

Saw this today at a near enough full May Fair Hotel. There were loads of FMUKers present and it started late which I wasn't in favour of.

Man did that film drag - literally. I know they had to walk over 800 km but I got achy feet just watching this for over 2 hours. They miraculously never did, even untrained ophtalmologist Martin Sheen who more ran than walked for most of the time, and even at one time jumped into a pretty fast-flowing river to retrieve his backpack. The landscape was beautiful and the film was quite funny in places, and yes, I got the spiritual journey thing, but there were so many little things that niggled me like how full that ash bag was after distributing little heaps of ash all the way (that's 800 km, remember). Or why he didn't just get the guy to give him two certificates. And what was he arrested for - shouting a bit too loudly while falling down?

This wasn't "The Way", this was "The Way Too Long", especially if you have lots of wrinklies behind you who insist on talking through the film and at the end shuffle out so slowly that the loo queue is a mile long by the time you get there.

7/10 because Martin Sheen was very good. The other three characters left me cold to be honest, and James Nesbitt was downright annoying.

I went in to the Birmingham screening with really low expectations (not helped by the largely geriatric christrian turnout) but what a suprising movie.

Really good story, very well told and my suprise movie of the year so far

Yes I was there tonight and was one of the 15 who got to watch the film which eventually started at 7.45pm. OH wasn't prepared to wait and wasn't too impressed with me as I was. We did a quick exit to get his keys and coat out of my car then he went home on the metro, I think he expected me to follow but I didn't.
I really enjoyed this film and warmed to all the characters, I especially loved the scenery which was beautiful and would love to do the pilgrimage (need about 3 months off work so it won't happen) I'm sure that MsThrifty would also love the walking as its challenging but peaceful. 9/10

OH and I were with Beate and a host of other FMUKers (thanks for the book cliveas, where did that come from?!) - we both loved the film. A great balance of the spiritual finding themselves and humourous breaks. Thought Martin sheen did a great job. Who is that actress that played the Canadian chick? She looked like a plastic surgery skeleton with skin stretched across her face!

8/10

If I had realised it would only have been another 15 minutes I might well have stayed but the people at the front didnt seem to sure so I opted for the free ticket as had I waited it would have been quite late and I needed to call at the shops on the way home. Not a very high turnout in the end, but glad you got to see the film. I have responded to my feedback email to say re the problems.

We may actually get to meet one day as we are both at Trafford Centre for Hanna on Thursday, though saying that you may have seen me at the front of the queue for the free tickets tonight :D

Deborah Kara Unger. Probably best known for Crash (Cronenberg) and The Game. Yes she did look a bit odd.

As I'd already seen this I gave my parents the tickets. They both loved it.
It also occured to me that both of tonight's screenings (Hanna and The Way) have quite a few Wizard of Oz references, which is quite an odd coincidence.
