Re: Your Highness
Well it's my personal opinion of it that I'm not allowed to talk about and why I had to sign the form.Beate wrote:But you could tell us whether you liked it without going into details? Surely there can't be an embargo on personal opinion.
All I will say is that if the idea of The Princess Bride remade by a teenage boy (more swearing, more nudity, more gore, less soppy romance) sounds good, you'll probably like it.
I'll post a link to my review when it goes live (although I'm sure people who have won tickets to the screening and Q&A on Sunday will get there first).

Re: Your Highness
A fitfully amusing film that get's the 'homage to 80's fantasy movies' bit right but falls down in the humour stakes. A missed opportunity that could have been a guilty pleasure with a tighter, funnier script.

Re: Your Highness
they staeyed for the Q+A,Beate.
It was ok, mainly puerile fun, although there were some good gags, but thinly spread and more toward the end of the movie. The trouble is there are some big gaps between the really good gags, with little to offer elsewise. Its a fair step down from Stardust and Discworld filmsbut then again its a long long way up from Age of Dragons. Special effects and one liners about sex seem to have replaced acting and script. Indeed, what was harder to get to grips with was this increasingly common stoner-sque 'Dude Wheres My Car?' acting style..... it took me half an hour to accept , meaning I was bored and offput for the first half hour of the movie. The other side of the acting was overthetop. Its like its trying to be Mel Brooks, but its not.
I lament what could have been a great movie if their had been a better script. I'd give it 7/10 which is probably about 6/10 given that I am +1 generous with free movies. And for Portman, who smoulders in this movie. pretty good accent too. she rocks, and gave the movie some omphh. Actually James Franco wasnt bad either in this role.
