Re: Frankenstein Live
a bit long but a blinder of acting ability from Benedict, he thought out everything for his frankenstein, down to body movements which evolved as his character evolved through the show.
at times this felt like a movie!
But a fine show to watch...although I have to admit I think I enjoy a screening of a play more than a live show when the quality of recording is this good.

Re: Frankenstein Live
We thought this was terrific--a great production that was also really well filmed. It was our first time at Greenwich Picturehouse which is a very comfortable place.
Shame about that couple who came in late and then proceeded to disturb everyone in the back two rows -- they seemed to bump into everyone as they made their way to the most inaccessible seats. When they finally sat down the lady shouted to her OH, is this OK? I feared that if he said no they would have moved! And where was a_person when I needed her? In a very quiet part of the film the two miscreants decided to open and eat bags of crisps. The noise was interminable and I finally told them to be quiet and they seemed quite astonished that they were bothering anyone!

Re: Frankenstein Live
it always amazes me how actors like benedict keep up solid acting on all fronts (body, voice, movement, mindset) all the way through a live show. Theres only so much rehearsing you can do so how they keep it going is unimaginable and when I think about it, I dont think I could even approach what they do for even five minutes on stage. Such skill.

Re: Frankenstein Live
Saw this at Cameo Edinburgh and Cumerbatcgh was also monster.
Amazing set and the acting was certainly up there with the best of them.
Glad I saw this but not sure I'd ever have pa*d the £50+ to see it live at the theatre.

Re: Frankenstein Live
I managed to see this twice at Edinburgh Cameo - both courtesy of Times. First time was their strange single solitary ticket offer which then disappeared straight after I'd booked it. Luckily I had printed off my ticket so went along anyway. It had in fact been an allocated seating performance and was sold out, but I persevered with my ticket in my hand and finally got in.
I have to say that having seen both performances with the roles reversed, Benedict Cabbagepatch was defenitely the better monster. His acting was amazingly convincing and the way that he evolved it throughout the 2 hours was mesmorising. I agree - I wouldn't have p**d £50 twice over for the privilege, but for nothing was perfect.

Re: Frankenstein Live
Oh lucky that you saw both ways around! I have seen it twice in cinema too (Times +) and it was the same recording both times.
It doesn't have to be £50 in theatre by the way tickets start at £12 (for excellent seats) and they even have £5 standing tickets

Re: Frankenstein Live
Seeing it both ways round was the only reason I saw it twice. I only booked the second initially as I wasn't convinced that the first single ticket was a proper ticket. Turned out it wasn't, but I still talked my way in.canadian_turtle wrote:Oh lucky that you saw both ways around! I have seen it twice in cinema too (Times +) and it was the same recording both times.

Re: Frankenstein Live
Assuming that it started at 6pm - nothing. The live performance is around 2 hours long.Beate wrote:I was glad when it was over at 8.05pm, after the display had announced the running time to 8.35pm - wonder what we missed?
Re: Frankenstein Live
Just read this. Perhaps you missed the documentary?funthing29 wrote:made the effort to see this at Clapham tonight......... There was a short documentary about Frankenstein (book & play) before the film started which was entertaining.
