This must really be one of those "Marmite" films as following on from the initially diverging critical opinions, this week I've seen it featured in both "Best of" and "Worst of" 2011 film lists. Still don't know whether or not I'd like it...

I finally got to see this on wednesday (first pa*d for film of 2012) and it was deifinitely worth the wait & the money. It didn't seem too long and when I came out the screen I thought it was 6:40pm when I first glanced at my watch but it turned out to be 7:40, a whole extra hour had flown by! I really hope the original cut is available at some point in the future. :cross:

I never really noticed too much disjointedness, I guess I'm used to it in other things I've seen or maybe my tendency to channel hop on the remote :shifty:

The only time it pointed to a whole chunk missing was near the end when she
suddenly announces to Matt Damon that she had an abortion. It was kind of random and sudden as if she'd made it up on the spot, but at the same time it could very well have happened as they did show her having unprotected sex. But then Lucy being Lucy would have made a much bigger drama of it all leading up to an abortion rather it coming up as a passing comment.
Maybe it was just left in there to leave people wondering one way or the other.

Great performances all round I do hope it get's recognition in some of the awards. :cross:

Presumably a director's cut would be even longer than the original and it was already unusually long.

yeah but with a DVD you're at home and have a pause button ;)
Would be interesting to see it as it was intended and it might explain a few things, I think I put them in spoiler tags when I posted what I thought of the film. There things Lisa does towards the end where you don't know if she's making it up or true and they cut a bit of story footage out.

Not there yet, but others have told me there is a scene in the shooting script that they cut proving it true. I prefer ambiguity, is she playing or not.

Just seen this. I loved it and hated it at the same time, probably because of the fact that Lisa was so unlikeable. Would like to see the directors cut and the Scorsese cut (love that he did a cut, it means I didn't waste two and a half hours today that could have been spent on my dissertation!).

Great performances, and interesting to recognize Cirque du Soleil in the soundtrack!
