Taken was a 15 in cinemas, for the same reasons that Taken 2 could have been a 15. ON DVD and blu ray, the extended torture scene where Neeson begins to almost enjoy hurting others pushed the film to an 18 for sadism.TheyCallMeMrGlass wrote:Interesting that Taken 2 is only a 12a certificate. I'm sure the first one was an 18.
Will be there tonight :)

Can I be the first person to say that that was dreadful and probably the worst movie of the year that we have been to see!!!

Re: Taken 2
What a disaster.
It has taken me a lot of willpower to sit through this and it will take me a long time to get over it. Seriously, Liam Neeson needs to get a new take on his career - it can't be taken for granted these days that a film with him will be any good - and this one, take it from me, was dreadful.
I was already in a bad mood as OH had taken a wrong turn on the tube and then taken the wrong bus too so we only arrived at the cinema at 6.35pm to a humongous queue - actually, upon advancing further, or should I say, taking more steps, we saw there were two humongous queues! We got in though and took great seats in the back of the gallery on the dot of 6.45pm - it took some time to start though as still loads of people were pouring in. We got an introduction which I couldn't hear a word of, then two trailers through which my stupid neigbours took to talking, and then Liam Neeson on screen telling us to behave or "I will come for you and I will find you". Don't take it at face value, folks.
It was just the same story rehashed so Liam Neeson could growl and say improbable things like this bit where he tells his daughter to find him with the help of a map and a grenade - utter bullshit. "What will you do now? What I do best" got the biggest laugh as everyone took to finding the whole film unintentionally hilarious. I can't find anything memorable in it, and we left during the "three weeks later" scene as we wanted to get to our phones that had been taken off us earlier - only to arrive to a scrum for them already! So I missed the end - I take it she passed the driving test with flying colours and can now take to the road legally?
A take-away of a movie.
5/10
P.S. Did they give out free booze at the beginning or why was practically everyone going to the loo during the film? Haven't had such a restless audience in a while.

Every seat had a bottle of lager. One was not enough
What a shockingly dreadful film. People were laughing like crazy, trouble was it wasn't meant to be funny or tongue in cheek. So many plot holes, stupid dialogue, useless baddies, the list is endless. I've never seen such bad acting in ages. Famke jannsen had so much botox her face was frozen solid, and as for the daughter, how old was she mean't to be? 4/10

Re: Taken 2
Someone must have taken our beer as we had none! Probably better anyway, or OH would have gone to the loo constantly too. He's not even supposed to drink with the painkillers he's on.
Re: Taken 2
Not having seen the first instalment, I didn't know I was going to be in for some 'true comedic moments'.
Works best with a packed audience like the one tonight, though.
