Vue Omni, Edinburgh was late in getting in as the previous screening didn't finish until 6.10 so by the time we all got in and they had found seats for everyone, as it was very full, it was 7.40pm before the lights dimmed. Blank screen for a few minutes and then we thought at first it was an advert but there was Bradley Cooper talking about himself to his mother and father so we realised this was in fact the film that had started during the blank screen. Complained when we went out but got nothing in response except an apology. Don't think we missed much but annoying to say the least. :wall:

I was a bit disappointed in it although people near us seemed to think everything was hilarious judging by the laughter. Enjoyable but only a 7/10 from me.

I was at ShepBu as well. I met RickyRaj and another fmuker (forgot his name)
God what a palaver at that screening. I was getting really cross with all the chair swapping - someone went all the way from the front to the back, and then back again during the film, and the people standing in the corner arguing with the usher :nono: :x I noticed they all had been for popcorn etc. If you are late, don't stop to feed your face, get a seat! WE three had to sit separately and we got there about 6.15.

So, I really enjoyed the film, I like most of David O's work that I've seen - loved Three Kings and The Fighter, hated Huckabees.

I dind't know anything about the film apart from Bradley being in it so I was pretty happy at the outcome. Some gently humour, odd characters, with lots of problems. Sure it was corny and you knew the outcome but I didn't care about that.

I hardly recognized Bradly and its probably the first time I've seen him do a serious (ish) film. As for Jennifer Lawrence, she was so good, I could really empathise with her.

7.5/10

Saw this last night at Islington and to a packed house.

I liked this film. The issue of mental illness is always a difficult subject without it being over sentimental. Which this film was not fortunately.

The acting all round was very good. The story was a bit patchy. Bradley Cooper was excellent doing a serious role for a change and quite believable. Jennifer Lawrence and Robert de Niro were very watchable. Quirky and funny through inappropriate moments. Hard to have empathy for the lead characters but hey..I don't have a mental illness issue...I think.

A good solid watchable film.

Watched this at an almost full Lowry. I agree with kevinknapman, the first 90 mins is more about mental illness, with some laughs. The last 30 mins is a lot lighter and more rom/com. Thought Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence acting was brilliant. We had a couple of walk out after an hour.

I wish someone would make a documentary about these people, probing them as to the kind of drivel they would rather sit through. I imagine something like Freddy Got Fingered would make the cut.
