Re: Quartet
Just got back from seeing it and I thought it was lovely. Billy Connolly stole most of his scenes, but then I have a soft spot for him. The cast was adorable, the plot sweet even if predictable. I would say a solid yes for anyone with at least lukewarm feelings towards opera, as it does have a very fitting soundtrack.

Re: Quartet
Sadly, no Quartet for us at Shepherd Bush due to technical problems but at least they gave us the option of choosing another film in the programme.

Re: Quartet
from the trailer this looks hilarious. though bizarrely noone looked 'old' enough in a physical sense. Not a zimmerframe in sight! yeah i get its a retirement home, not a nursing home, but you'd expect at least a few crocked knees around. None of these guys need any kind of support to get by.
fav 5 films of the year - Tenet, Bill n Ted 3, Invisible Man, JoJo Rabbit, ?

I had so looked forward to my first preview in ages and to this film especially ...cinefila1 wrote:Sadly, no Quartet for us at Shepherd Bush due to technical problems but at least they gave us the option of choosing another film in the programme.

But it was very nice to see Valda again
and OH and I decided to stay for Argo which we had missed at the time.

Sadly not for me. I had to be at Hammersmith for Jack Reacher at 20:30 so nothing was suitable. Thought this was badly handled by the staff. Left in a queue for 40 mins without telling us why. Had to rely on people in queue going up to staff and asking what was going on then relaying it back to everyone else. A couple of hours wasted for me.

We got there early and the Vue guy told us there were some technical problems and we would have to wait for a while. We decided to join the queue anyway, but I agree that after that they did not make an effort to update us on the progress. I was with a friend I hadn't seen for some time so for me time passed very quickly. I would have preferred the option of a voucher to be honest but my friend had not seen The Hobbit so we opted for that.

Re: Quartet
I had seen everything they had to offer apart from Alex Cross, but I wasn't prepared to hang around for another 90 mins, or go home and come back again.
It was shockingly handled, there was the main queue, then there was another queue/gathering of people trying to find out what was going on. Instead of coming round the queue and making an announcement, they huddled by the food area for 40 minutes, then told the people at the front, what they were going to do. So instead of telling the staff that anyone with a printout, can get a ticket for another film, they wen't through the queue, one person at a time
I gave up, but made sure I told all the people at the back what was happening.
Good to see Kaybeelon and others, and thanks to KP for putting up with my moaning. Hope he enjoyed Jack Reacher vx

Re: Quartet
Saw this in the york vue screen 1 the sound transference from the next cinema was appalling. Only about 100 seats and 3 quarters full. Ours was the best behaved audience I have seen in years. Be sure to watch the credits to see photos of the cast when they were younger in their heyday.
Re: Quartet
As we already had one wasted journey to Shepherd's Bush last week I just want to double check: is that really a 10.30am screening tomorrow at Wimbledon? On a Friday?
Is anyone going?
