It was ok. Someone had mentioned Lily Collins and eyebrows in another thread and that's all I could see

. And I spent the whole film thinking Kate was Little Miss Sunshine grown up but turns out the only film I've seen her in is Trespass.

I love it when the trailer looks awful and the story sounds formulaic but the movie is actually enjoyable!

Snap and snap! Glad it wasn't just me!
I actually rather enjoyed this and the indie soundtrack was good.
It's going to be a fight for that beach house!! Wilmington, North Carolina apparently! Very Nice!

It is big enough! A room in it for each of us.

Yes thought the same

and in for a room with a view.
OH went to sleep & I had to do the 'nudge' to shut him up when the snoring got very loud.
The beach house was my main interest couldn't care less about the characters

Funny story that, I thought the same thing. The funny bit is that the guy who played Rusty's best friend is Little Miss Sunshine's real life brother!
I'm pretty much in agreement with asamaic (who it was lovely to chat to after on the way home) regarding the film. Lily Collins's first scene really had me thinking I was going to hate her, and her character had very pretentious moments, but overall she grew on me.
My favorite part: "MAKE IT RAIN!"
Wow. Just wow.

stuartboy wrote:I really enjoyed this. A perfect mix of modern day story with a bit of old fashioned romance and a bit of humour. You could see the end coming a mile off, but so good when it came. A nice feel-good film just when I needed it after a long hard day.
Nice having characters that you can relate to a feel for and that seem both real and interesting.
I want that beach house with the rooftop study!
Still slightly concerned about the seemingly increasing amount of glorification of drug-taking...even the mum saying "OK, as long as it's just pot" to her kid. Not a good message.
I loved the addition of Stepehen King too. Nice touch.
8/10 from me tonight.
I agree with all that sb has written!
I too am finding the amount of drug-taking too much . . . it's being "normalised" by this regular exposure. It seemed to lose it's way re this topic except . . .
the mention of her being in re-hab
Enjoyed the film and would probably have gone to see it even without being a free preview.

A perfectly ok wee midweek movie. Nothing startling. Totally predictable. A bit like a story out the "Woman's Own" (I would imagine! ). I like Greg Kinnear so it was worth watching for him. Would imagine my 17 year old would be the target for this movie. 5/10

I managed to book tickets for this about an hour or so before it started (odd but cool) so off i trotted to meet Valda for what is turning into our almost weekly cinema meet.
I had no idea what the film was, who was in it or anything else and I actually really enjoyed it. I liked how they looked at a family's relationship with each other and those relationships they had with others because of it.
i'd see it again.
