You could say the same about Oldman's character

has an armoury, knows where the apes are and legitimate reason to attack but waits until 'all' the apes are up a tower? Blows it while standing underneath and it doesn't even work, obviously just to have a set piece for the finale.

Saw this on Sunday with soon to expire free vouchers with DD.

Glad we watched the first film again on Saturday night before going so it was still fresh in our minds. I really enjoyed this, definitely one of my favourite films this year. We watched it 2D and didnt miss the 3D aspect, not really a fan of 3D and certainly wouldnt p*y extra for it. I don't think I can really add much to the reviews beforehand other than my score of 9/10 - definitely one to watch if you get a chance.

I saw this today using a Cineworld voucher and thought it was absolutely stunning.

The story is gripping, helped enormously by the incredible CGI on display. The apes feel like real characters, more so than a lot of the humans and the technology as impressive as it is only helps the drama and never over shadows it.

A fantastic movie, I look forward to the next instalment 9/10

I ran out to the bathroom before Koba and Ceasar's fight at the dam. Was it just another disagreement about the guns/humans or was there any more to it?

Saw this today in Glasgow. Thoroughly enjoyed, excellent film - very cleverly done.
Although this could be a stand alone film, I'm so glad that I watched the first film last weekend before seeing this - made much more sense!
Looking forward to the next one!
9/10 from me.

more an immersive experience than merely a movie, loved it. Half expected apes to pop out running out of the screen into the cinema at me. whoopwhoop! Now that would be a cool thing. Roll on Part 3, hopefully they will continue to explore new themes rather than rehash old ones too much.
fav 5 films of the year - Tenet, Bill n Ted 3, Invisible Man, JoJo Rabbit, ?

My belated review, as I was underwhelmed by this, it felt very flat seeing it in 2D - having been spoilt seeing the trailer in IMAX 3D, I only had 2D vouchers to see it at my local Holloway Odeon, on the day it came out, and could not upgrade. So inflexible. These were not gift vouchers, so are not upgradable.

Unfortunately, as I think David has remarked before, the screen is smaller than people's TV screens, in a very large screening room, so took away the awesomeness of such an epic. Perhaps, that is why I did not enjoy as much as I would if the screen had even been bigger, even though it was not 3D.

A much darker film then the Rise, the apes are looking more real and more human. The story is terrifying, very tense with both sides, trying to survive but disastrously, a war seems imminent that will destroy everything, very sad too with the realisation that humans and apes are not that different at all with one bad apple that will ruin everything for everyone. The acting is superb, and some emotional scenes, but a slow start and some cliched sub-plots. 7/10

Finally caught this with a voucher.
Mrs Caesar didn't have many lines to learn! And wasn't her acting a little on the mahogany side?
That said the story was a good follow-on from the first episode. Some really ugly simians though.
Also sat like a plonker waiting for the end-credit trailer for the next installment like there was in the previous....but nothing.

Watched this over the weekend and although not quite as good as the first one with James Franco I did enjoy it. 8/10. CGI is defo very good and good to see the film exploring some of the ape characters.
