Wow! That was amazing!
Yep, that's not going to be everyone's cup of tea. I did hear a "Thank goodness that was free", in the cinema at the end, but I loved it.
What a brilliant piece of theatre. It really was like watching something on stage, but with the obvious changing scenery of a 2 hour drive down the motorway at 9pm. The story built gradually and you could feel the building emotion as each piece occured. There was some humour, notably from Donal the Irish builder, but overall the pressure just built and built. The final "scene" resulted in the feeling of 2,000 metric tonnes of concrete simply lifting off the cinema, such was the feeling of relief felt.
Each of the supporting actors - and did you see the credits at the end? - so many well-kent names - were so convincing that they simply assumed their characters and never came across as Moriarty or that woman out of Broadchurch. They seemed so real and convincing.
I have to say that the call from the boy Ed from under his duvet was really poignant, and that final call from the hospital just made me want to cry, such was the incredible emotional pressure that had built.

Genius.
Not something I would expect to watch in a cinema, yet would have pa*d perhaps 3 times as much as a cinema ticket to see on the stage, but with far less visual stimulus. Definitely something that I would expect from a short story in a book that translates perfectly to the screen.

10/10, and surprisingly so.

That was pretty good I thought, not sure I would have wanted it to be too much longer but it was much better than I thought it would be based on most of the comments in this thread.

I can see this won't be everyoness cup of tea but an 8/10 from me.

0/10 although I only watched 30 minutes. Perhaps the last hour was fantastic hence some high scores. Not my thing, if I needed to know about concrete I would watch the discovery channel

I thought this was a very strong film. Tom Hardy gives another great performance of a character trying to do the honorable thing during a day from hell. An inventive and well constructed script. 9/10

I can understand why people say they would rather hear it on the radio but if it were, you would miss a great performance by Tom Hardy. I know I'm a massive fan of his but he had the presence to carry it more or less on his own. Mostly with his eyes in the mirror, and lots of beard rubbing.

I know it was unrealistic, with the problems with the paperwork but that didn't really matter to me.

This film was so different to anything else I've ever seen, I was absolutely captivated and really had no idea how it would end. 9/10

i had a feeling that this would be like marmite... However, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Given the in-car chlaustrophobic feel, the length was right, but it was far from boring. Tom Hardy's performance was great and I was able to understand his every word. Several amusing moments and the phone acting was good too. Though can easily see why this divides opinion. And expectations have definitely been misled by the marketing. Glad I went though. 8/10

Brilliant. Absolutely loved this. Mesmerising performance by Tom Hardy. Yes, it would have made an excellent radio play, but the performance of Tom Hardy was really special and the real time effect of the drive really helped the momentum.
Marmite indeed!
