Frank
Re: Frank
Like a biopic of a cross between Daniel Johnston and Mark E. Smith directed by Aki Kaurismaki: not for everyone. Inspired by journalist Jon Ronson’s involvement in the real-life Sidebottom’s band, this Frank is a stunningly uncommercial would-be rock star who migrates from gigs at English seaside resorts via Irish cabin fever to apotheosis at SXSW.

The pictures from this event are now showing on Jamiesons page on facebook, check it out.yogi wrote:
Well these were the two ladies who greeted us in Manchester at the Cornerhouse tonight and things didn't get much more normal after that.
We all had a Frank mask on our seat and were asked to wear it for a group photo before the film, hope it gets posted somewhere cos I'd love to see it and share it on here.
I was a bit wary that the film might be extremely irritating or annoying or just odd for the sake of it, but I thought it was great.
It's really funny without being a full on comedy and you do relate to Frank even though he has a big paper mâché head on the whole time.
Although it explores artistic expression and mental illness it's actually very entertaining whilst doing it. It may look weird but I'd say give it a chance.
Very likeable! 8/10

Re: Frank
Odd, quirky and humorous at times. I'm glad I saw it locally and didn't have to get up early on a Sunday morning to travel a long way to see it at the picturehouse.

Re: Frank
bizarre but cute little contemporary fictional story with subtle echoes of the 80s fact its derived from. The subtle 80s theme was embellished by the story beginning in a rather timeless small town which probably hasn't changed much in the last 20 years., and the soundtrack which was a raw noisy sound devoid of modern instruments, from the Dexys MR and Madness at the beginning to Franks raucous closing wails that you can hear all the way out from the cinema exit on your way out.
felt like a comic book in places.
I felt like I was part of this movie more than any I have seen this year, which is a serious term of endearment. To be frank, wIsh I'd made it!
