Re: Funny People
I got these tickets quite a while back and managed to get 4 so the whole family could go....my tickets say PG.............say the trailer last week and thought it looked a bit risky for a PG. Just saw it advertised again and its a 15 ABSOLUTLETLY GUTTED...promised the kids we were going to hartlepool flix to watch a film and I've let them down! I hate broken promises so now I will have to fork out £20 to take them to a normal screening which I hate because they are so noisy!!

Re: Funny People
After seeing the new trailer during the Ugly Truth Screening, It has gone down on my list of films to see .... not that im a prude but there seemed an awful lot of swearing in the new trailer (god i sound like my mother), and not even bothered about it on DVD. I think Seth Rogen and Mr Sandler do some fab films but think this will let them down big time..... going to give this one a huge body swerve.

Yes Sarah, thats the trailer I saw, when i got home and checked the tickets and saw it was a PG! but not taking my little ones to a film with swearing in it! Iam no prude either but sometimes they just swear for swearing sake!sarahjc78 wrote:After seeing the new trailer during the Ugly Truth Screening, It has gone down on my list of films to see .... not that im a prude but there seemed an awful lot of swearing in the new trailer (god i sound like my mother), and not even bothered about it on DVD. Re: Funny People
In Friday's "Guardian" there were TWO separate articles, by different writers, both saying (amongst other things) that "Funny People" is flawed but daring and interesting. So we may yet be surprised. One article was about how some films don't receive the acclaim they deserve until they are released on DVD and cited as examples "The Wizard Of Oz", "Citizen Kane"; more recently "The Big Lebowski" and now "Funny People" and "The Hurt Locker". The other article was specifically about Judd Apatow and suggested that his latest is a curate's egg but also his most promising yet. Having initially found the trailer and press coverage off-putting, I've been heartened by these articles; just hope that when it comes to it, I can spot the good parts...

Re: Funny People
I've been waiting for this for a long time. I love stand-up comedy, and I love Apatow's films. Haven't been too impressed by the trailers or any other additional material I've seen. I also read the script ages ago and found it very intriguing if ultimately unsatisfying. I'm surprised at how badly it's done at the US box office, compared to what the Apatow films were making a couple of years back.

Re: Funny People
I really can't wait for this, me and the OH are huge Judd Apatow fans, I think this is going to be great, for me at least, I have high expectations. I really don't think I will be let down, especially as I am so in lust with Seth Rogan lol, I'll just pretend it's me and him in the room haha!
The thing that p's me off a little about the casting is that Apatows wife and Kids are in it, as they were in Knocked Up, nevertheless they are funny, and well it's good to get perks when your dads the boss

Oh my goodness, why on earth did i not listen to myself. Just wasted 2 1/2 hours on this film. Do not blame the first lot of people that left in the first hour at Boldon and the few others which followed shortly after. This film was mind numingly boring with about 5 minutes of Humour.... Bad writing and the title could no be further from the truth...... also the cheese on the nachos and sour cream tasted pooh too.... would give this film a 2/10 and thats being generous :O(

Re: Funny People
after battling a bus strike, rain, anjirose's OH scoffing all my ket, and the hottest cinema ever I was hoping for my spirits to be lifted by a good film, sadly my day went from bad to worse. There'll be people waaay cleverer than me who will be able to tell you exactly what this film was trying to say and all the complexities within it, but for it just didn't do it for me baby, self indulgent, far too long, and the "comedy" was crude and not funny, and given the amout of c*ck and ass references I was surprised it was only rated a 15 (didn't realise I'd just turned into me nana!) The closest I've ever been to walking out of a screening, a massive thumbs down for me 2.5/10
