Re: The Losers
Got out my trade show early so we were at the MPC Wardour Street for 6pm even though it was said to start at 7pm. Just as well, because all of a sudden the reception girl told us the screening had been cancelled! I couldn't believe it, I nearly had an "I could have gone to Made in Dagenham" tantrum there and then! Luckily she called someone who then said it wasn't cancelled just moved to another location, and we should go to the Framestore in Neil Street which wasn't far away. There was OH and us and two people who later turned out to have got their tickets via milkchocmonkey. I rang hdaniel82 with the news and we trotted off. When we got to the Framestore, they told us to go to the other Framestore in Wells Street, which is basically off Oxford Street so we had been walking somewhat in a circle. When we finally arrived, we got drinks and crisps, and the OH, made merry by a beer, regaled everyone who didn't want to know about his time in Ireland. The film then started with only 10 minutes delay in a screening room that could have seated more people and was very unevenly filled up - we were the only people in the back row, but the row in front of us was full! I had hdaniel82's OH in front of me who is nice and short so that was fab.
The film itself is completely over the top nonsense action from the beginning and felt like a spoof at times, particularly near the end where you just could't help laugh at the ridiculousness of it all. I mean picture a scene with our hero standing on a runway, a plane racing at him from one direction, and a motorbike with a mad assassin from the other. Then the motorbike guy gets shot by our hero's mate from a ridiculously far away spot, makes a somersault over the hero and ends up in the plane's engine, which promptly explodes, coming to a standstill an inch in front of hero guy, who hasn't moved an inch! That sort of nonsense was actually quite funny so I enjoyed it in a kind of "let's not think about the plotholes" way. Hdaniel82 on the other hand, turned round to me about 15 minutes in and whispered "This film sucks!" They had two people next to them who couldn't stop laughing all the way through, that must have hurt, LOL. So it's a big dumb action movie which you can enjoy by switching off your brain, and for that it gets a 7/10.

Re: The Losers
Saw this last night too. Was hoping it was going to be as good as the A Team and it really wasn't. Definitely got better towards the end, with more high octane action, but definitely one of the less good action movies of the year.

Re: The Losers
I was sitting there yesterday thinking, where do I know the actors from? The one black guy looked exactly like "Luther" from the TV series but he had an American accent so didn’t seem to fit. I am pleased though to say that after having looked him up it is indeed Idris Elba, his distinctive voice partly obscured by the American accent he adopted for the role. Zoe Saldana is getting noticed from Star Trek, Avatar and Death at a Funeral, but Jeffrey Dean Morgan had me stumped. I knew him from somewhere but couldn’t place him. Nothing rang a bell in his film list until I reached "P.S. I love You" and that’s 3 years old! Guess I remember the cuties… Btw, did you know there is an "Unnamed Star Trek Sequel" to come out in 2012? Can’t wait!

Re: The Losers
Jeffrey Dean Morgan's biggest role to date is in Watchmen, but then again you wouldn't know would you Beate?
Still really want to see this for the cast. Idris Elba is practically an American, living there and producing seminal work in The Wire. The Hitchcock of actors?
Chris Evans and Zoe Saldana are, of course, enjoying their careers atm.

Re: The Losers
I'm a bit confused with this, has it not been in the cinema months ago? I remember seeing it.
