Very true! I may use some Nectar points actually, although I hate the new rules they have brought in, you have to use twice as many points to get a ticket now. 500 = only £2.50 towards the ticket price!
Preferred cinemas:
Weekdays: Central London (all West End), West India Quay, Greenwich O2, Vue Islington
Weekends: Greenwich (O2, Odeon, PH), Vue Stratford City, Stratford PH

I was really looking forward to this, so it was such a disappointment that this film was such a disaster!!! For a summer blockbuster, it really held back on the action in favour of dialogue, which i have no problems with, except that the script was seriously sub-standard lol. I really dont see the need in dedicating a whole film to the origins of Robin Hood, surely they could have given him the final third as the outlaw which we all know him as, but i guess they must be planning a franchise, but even still, in other origin films like Batman Begins, we get to see Batman in action, so this film felt like a cop-out.

I would give this film 4/10, mainly based on a final act battle scene that slightly redeemed the previous 110mins lol

Just been to see Robin Hood at the PH Greenwich (making good use of that membership!). The cinema wasn't very full as is understandable on a gorgeous day like this, but I preferred the cool cinema to our baking top-floor flat.

I didn't think Crowe and Blanchett had much chemistry, and yes, his accent is all over the place, but so were a lot of the others, and it was an entirely watchable action-movie with some very strong battle scenes, particularly towards the end. I enjoyed the "spot the actor" game (Archie from ER, Minnie from Lark Rise to Candleford, the bloke from The Full Monty, Miss Deborah from Cranford, and William Hurt as the Chancellor), and generally enjoyed the story, historically incorrect as it undoubtedly is. It's just crying out for a sequel but maybe they can employ a few more British actors next time!

8/10

Well I had my first free evening yesterday and thought I make up for loss time at the cinema this year and catch a double bill of movies at my local plex. It was a bonus to be able to used our Orange mobiles for the b*y 1 get 1 free ticket on both films.

So at 5:30 I saw Robin Hood. A pretty decent epic it turned out to be. It doesnt quite flow very well in its narrative and the odd spots of humour seems somwhat forced. But its a heck of a good story, and cinematography was breathtaking. Russel Crowe mumbles his way as usual in the lead but he does have presence. Cate Blanchet as usual is oddly beautiful and always steals the scenes she's in. Her vesatility in acting different nationalities is becoming very Meryl Streepesque! King John reminded my a great deal of Jaquin Pheonix's Commodos in Gladiator and was quite entertaining to watch. I'd give the movie 7.5/10. I think there could be a longer version which would make the narrative make more sense, however that usually tends to be at the sacrifice of pacing. We'll see when that version gets released.

The other film I saw was Iron Man 2...which I'll post my very belated thoughts on the IM2 thread!
