Great to see everyone at Westerhailes last night. Like the others I was really looking forward to this film.

Loved seeing so many British Actors altho Mark Strong, another from Sharpe confused me, has he had a nose job?? Looked so different from Colonel Brand!!

I digress. Altho the film was slow to start, and yes meant you had to concentrate it was one of these mmh films. When I left the cinema I realised I had enjoyed it more than I thought, liked the flashbacks and almost sepia effect filming at times.

7.5/10 from me and think Gary Oldman will get an Oscar nomination at least but nothing for Colin this time,

Well, I definitely wouldn't want to watch an entirely subtitled film in the Mayfair Hotel... very slow burning, very understated and I got completely lost with what was going on and who was who. I wonder if you have to be familiar with the original to 'get' it.

agree with you LiacFairy - I found the movie very slow and was having a tough time keep track of who's who.. :(

Here's my review of it: http://wp.me/p1LZHn-4W

I thought it was pretty brilliant. It's definitely a massive departure from what audiences have become used to, but I think it's an incredible throwback.
102 Different free films seen in 2010 plus 2 repeat viewings and a few tv show screenings... not too shabby. Thanks to everyone for their contributions here.

Good review! Just one thing: Beneditch?

Is that a silent hint that they need to ditch him? :giggle:

I am not surprised to see kk, sf and aybg having positive reviews for this but I am shocked that David and thedude did not enjoy it.

Great reviews, kk, AYBG and sf - I will still give this a try when it comes out in the cinema.

All the way to the left, I think fourth or fifth row from the back. I might have enjoyed the film more in a nicer cinema, and if I'd been familiar with the book. I may give it another go at some point..
