Kristen Stewart has denied she turned down the chance to star in the new 'Superman' movie.

It was reported that the actress had been approached to play Lois Lane in Zack Snyder's superhero reboot, but decided to turn down the plum part.

However, a spokesperson for the 'Twilight' star said, "There are a number of fabricated stories circulating. The fact is that she has not met on this film nor has she been approached for this film."

While fans of the actress won't be seeing her play the intrepid reporter, she will be reprising the role of Bella Swan in the final two 'Twilight' movies. 'Breaking Dawn - Part 1' is released later this year.

Other names that have been linked to the part of Lois Lane include Rachel McAdams and Jessica Biel. Kristen Bell and Lake Bell have also been mooted, as has 'Death Proof's Mary Elizabeth Winstead'.

It was recently announced that British actor Henry Cavill will be cast as Superman. It means three UK actors are currently playing a trio of America's best known superheros - Christian Bale (Batman), Andrew Garfield (Spider-Man) and now Cavill.

Johnny Depp had a lucrative 2010 - the 'Pirates of the Caribbean' star earned a massive $100 million (£61 million).

The actor came second on the list compiled by Vanity Fair to find Hollywood's biggest earners last year. His entry in the chart in second place was thanks to a £21.5 million salary for the fourth 'POTC' adventure and a whopping £24 million from a back-end deal for 'Alice in Wonderland'. Taking less salary in favour of a percentage of the film and DVD sales in the hope it gets successful, is something many stars do nowadays. However, while he won't be seeing much from a back end deal for 'The Tourist', he can console himself with the £12 million salary he earned for the spy caper.

Depp was far behind the biggest earner of 2010.

James Cameron earned a staggering $257 million (£158 million) last year alone - a large bulk of that coming from back end deals to his box office behemoth 'Avatar'. The lucrative residuals came from cinema and DVD sales of the sci-fi blockbuster.

Steven Spielberg came third in the chart. He earned $80 million (£49 million) last year – shockingly, £30 million of it due to Universal Theme Park royalties and consulting fees.

Christopher Nolan came in fourth place after earning over £43 million, thanks to the success of 'Inception'. Nolan's 'Inception' star Leonardo DiCaprio was in fifth place.

Tim Burton earned £32 million to take sixth place, while Adam Sandler and Todd Phillips were seventh and eighth respectively.

The only actor from the 'Twilight' series to make the top ten was Taylor Lautner. The young actor earned £20.6 million thanks to his role in the popular goth romance series, as well as his £4.6 million fee for upcoming thriller 'Abduction'.

Robert Downey Jr rounded out the top ten chart - earning £19 million.

Inception and Social Network win Writers Guild awards

Sci-fi thriller Inception and Facebook movie The Social Network have won the main prizes at the Writers Guild of America (WGA) awards.

Inception, which stars Leonardo DiCaprio, won best original screenplay, while The Social Network was named best adapted screenplay.

A Bolivian cineplex on Tuesday announced a film marathon competition likely to test the endurance of even the most avid cinephile.

The challenge is to watch the most uninterrupted movies without leaving the theater and without falling asleep, said organizers of the contest sponsored by the Megacenter cinema concern.

"We're trying to measure the endurance of people watching movies without stopping," Megacenter's chief executive Jose Luis Gomez, who told AFP that the competition gets underway on February 19.

Gomez said that his cineplex would show continual screenings of movies from various film genres and that any contestant leaving the theater for more than five minutes at a time would be eliminated.

More than 50 movies will be screened during the marathon, organizers said -- enough for four days of continuous film viewing.

The lucky winner is to receive one-year free pass for more unlimited movie viewing at Megacenter, the company said.

'Don't Look Now' named best British film

Steamy gothic thriller 'Don't Look Now' has been named the best British film of all time by film experts.

The star studded panel, which included new 'Bond' director Sam Mendes, Wes Anderson and 'Made in Dagenham's Sally Hawkins, voted Nicolas Roeg's 1973 film ahead of the classic 'The Third Man' and drama 'Distant Voices, Still Lives, which came second and third respectively.

The film starred Donald Sutherland and Julie Christie as a grieving married couple who move to Venice to get over their death of the young child.

Told of topping Time Out's 100 Best British Films list, Roeg gushed, "Well, it’s all very exciting indeed. It’s almost forty years since I made the film now. It’s some time since I last saw it, but I see clips when I introduce it at festivals and it reminds me of that time and making it in Venice with Donald Sutherland and Julie Christie."

Talking about the iconic sex scene, Roeg added, "Sex, whether you like it or not, is the prime force of life. There is no other reason to be here. For me, sex is very rarely rude. It’s a fresh thing. I think people secretly connected to 'Don’t Look Now'. Maybe that’s why, after all this time, people see the film more clearly. When it came out, audiences were less used to it. That scene would’ve been like someone bursting out of a cupboard and shouting 'Boo!'".

Ken Loach's 'Kes' and 'The Red Shoes' were fourth and fifth, while 'A Matter of Life and Death', 'Performance', 'Kind Heart and Coronets', 'If' and 'Trainspotting' rounded out the top ten.

Andrew Garfield will star with Jennifer Garner in 'Back Roads'.

The 27-year-old actor will take the lead role in the film adaptation of Tawni O'Dell's bestselling novel as a young man who is forced to care for his three younger sisters after their mother is jailed for killing her abusive husband.

Jennifer, 38, will play a family neighbour who becomes romantically involved with the 'Spiderman' star's character.

Television and film actress Marcia Gay Harden is also involved in the project and is set to play a court-appointed therapist.

Adrian Lyne will direct the Pennsylvania-set murder mystery from a screenplay he co-wrote with Tawni, with 'Capote' producer Michael Ohoven, Dan Spilo and Kevin Turen also working on the film.

Andrew - who also stars in 'The Social Network' and 'Never Let Me Go' - said last month that he hopes he will always be "struggling" for roles, so he is always learning.

He said: "I hope I never blow up. I hope that I have to audition for every single job I want. I hope that I'm always struggling, really. You develop when you're struggling. When you're struggling, you get stronger."
