Re: Holiday Thread
Our UK holidays are never expensive, and the weather is usually good. That's such a generalisation.

Re: Holiday Thread
Well I used to work at a seaside resort and that how I found it, of course I have to generalise but, overseas you are more guarenteed good weather and I find the prices cheaper. Its just my opinion.

Re: Holiday Thread
Cost depends on the holiday type but I/we always stay in a hotel on a deal (if it's just for a short break) or go self-catering, so it's cheap either way and nice to have your own space if it's for a whole week. And my hobbies are cheap as my main one is walking and when I'm not doing that, I'm probably visiting houses/castles/gardens/museums, most of which are free to members.
This thread got me thinking, though: where would you NOT return to? With no hesitation I nominate Madeira!

Re: Holiday Thread
LOL, it's Tenerife, and funnily enough my boss said something similar about her holiday there!
I don't think I've ever been anywhere I disliked.

I didn't think Tenerife was that bad, not the sort of holiday I'd normally go on but I was 17 and with friends so it was fun but then I don't think I've been anywhere I have truly hated.

Re: Holiday Thread
Day five in Berlin.
The first day we got here, the weather was gorgous. But because we had woken up at 02:30 to catch a coach to the airport, all we wanted to do was sleep and veg out in the apartment.
Since then (last Friday) it has chucked it down with rain the whole time.
I am currently sheltering at an internet cafe in a shopping centre!
My other half ran the Berlin Marathon on Sunday. Really really proud of the achievement. I got completely drenched though. It is such hard work being a supporter!
Loving the German bakeries, and bitter dark hot chocolate they have here.

Oh - bring gorgeous German food back!
Re: Holiday Thread
Why would you not go back to Madeira? - I loved it there, although it was some years ago and things may have changed.Ms Thrifty wrote:
