Werner Herzog's
Into the Abyss wins the Grierson Award for best documentary. (I knew it
should - it's fantastic - see this amusing review of it from The Times):

What a lovefest at the Closing film gala tonight for Sandra Hebron, praise after praise, especially from director Terence Davies. Shame Rachel Weisz couldn't come. She was one of the best things about the film. The Closing night party was at No1 Marylebone and they laid on lots of coaches to transport guests over there.
