I have only just noticed this thread but I sooo have to join it! Last year I was proud of the fact that I managed to lose almost 5 stone in time for my daughter's wedding, but since January it has been creeping on again, to the tune of just over 2 stone. My son's wedding in September forced me to crash-diet a stone of it off but since then, what with one thing and another, I've been comfort eating for Scotland. Image
I'd just finished a bowl of syrup sponge & custard when I sat down at the PC & found this thread.
Doesn't really help with Christmas looming & still feeling a bit miserable, Image but I've really got to get a grip of things. There's no way I want to go back to the weight I was, but right now it's heading that way fast. Time for action, I think.

a_person wrote:I have not lost even a pound since this thread started. If anything, I only put on an additional stone. Self control is so hard. I should just have my lips sewn like in Coraline. I just can't do it, nor get myself on my cross trainer or bike machine. :(

If I were rich enough, I'd do liposuction! :crying:
Can we sew buttons on your eyes too!?! Dont feel bad, forget the past. Think forward...start now!

Maybe the key is you need motivation, incentive and intermediate goals to drive you forward? Set yourself goals that you can be passionate about achieving. could be anything but it must be highly incentive. My first goal is to get down to the qualifying weight to do a free fall parachute jump, then ultimately be the best badminton player and cricketer I can be)...uh alright, its none of those...there's this girl I like, and she aint noticing me...but er, point is, think of your goals as your incentive, visualising the glory of the end result!

So you got a X trainer and Bike? Go on, start using them! One highly motivating item I b*ght myself is a heart rate monitor watch. I have a Polar one. Using their website, you can get a tailored weight loss program to follow utilising heart rate zones that can apply to any cardio equipment, so in your case, the x trainer and bike. Its really really motivating because you are always aiming for a target (in this case, heart rate zones) and not just training aimlessly. These watches cost from £30, the more expensive ones count calories too which is useful but not essential.

Well done Large Marge on your weight loss and I think after your daughter going to New Zealand you deserve syrup sponge and custard. Don't be too harsh on yourself you are doing brilliant and reading this thread is motivational in itself.
a_person the heart rate monitors are fab, I use them from time to time as I had a heart virus a few years ago so when I push myself I know how hard I can go, you will get there.
TheyCallMeMrGlass I hope that girl notices you, you've got a lovely supportive personality and I still think you should be a motivational speaker.
After spending 3 hours walking in the hills in hailstone drenched and frozen and only having 5 hours sleep I confess I've just eaten a lemon cupcake

And by the way, if you've spent "3 hours walking in the hills in hailstone drenched and frozen and only having 5 hours sleep" I think you deserve considerably more than a lemon cupcake! Image

well done large marge ( please change your name!! vx)

I've falled completely by the wayside, I've been put back on anti depressants and have used that as an excuse to stop going to Weight Watchers, cancel my membership and start eating like an idiot. I'm noe even eating cos I'm hungry, I reckon its a punishment thing, Make myself bigger so I can hate myself even more.

anyways, I'm going to try and cut it down a bit especially with Christmas looming. I'm going to my sister who is over weight and cooks enough for an army when its just the 2 of us. She's one of the type that goes, 'Its Christmas/my birthday/the weekend/ any other sort of excuse'

Good luck to the rest of you vx

Well it is winter, what did you expect you mad girl, lol. Just kidding, I was actually very jealous of you when you said you were going for a 3 hour walk on the peaks, as I imagined a trek in the freshest air, gentle breeze, beautiful scenery...I admit I'm not that envious now! But seriously well done, thats a great feat especially considering the weather conditions. You must have felt invigorated with a great sense of achievement, at least thats how I felt when a few years ago, I walked up Snowdonia, bloody hard that was but truly spectacular experience.

I'm suddenly feeling inspired now to do this nature walk trail I hear about that circles central London hidden away inside this bustling and polluted city! Maybe I'll do that before xmas.

Oh and I do hope your 5 hours sleep was just a one off, though, its important to get at least 7 so that the body can recoup from the day's activities and its also when the body burns fat after a physically active day. I think you know all that already but I just learnt it recently :)

That nature walk sounds interesting, or maybe one of the haunted London ones.

I don't sleep at all, well no more than 2 hours unbroken sleep at a time. I've been like this for months but the Dr's just do not want to know :wall:

Crikey Valda, first things first - get rid of that inner demon in you that wants to punish you! How dare this Bad Demon Valda try to punish such a good natured lovely Valda who gave me and others such great advice and encouragement here. Be gone with you Bad Demon Valda! Love yourself because you're worth it... hmm those Loreal adverts are pretty contagious. But seriously you are worth it.

I could be wrong but it sounds like you got a tad too hectic of a life, or certain elements in your life are so intense that its stressful, hence your lack of sleep. Maybe time to take a holiday from work, or a short break? I think you need a nice treat..on your own, not with the family. Relax and clear your mind a bit and perhaps make plans on changing your lifestyle, step by step, maybe not too drastic unless you derive a real good plan! I'm not saying these things out of my head, Ive been there and a little break worked for me...several times. I needed to rejuvenate myself a few times, in fact thats what I'm doing now. Together with my weight loss track, I'm sporting a red head which apparently looks ridiculous on me but I dont care what others think, I like it, I feel good because I am worth it (damn that Loreal ad)

Not sure what this Weight watchers is all about tbh, a few of you seem to be subscribers. I cant say if its something you need right now, I just think priority is to treat yourself, love yourself and perhaps through that, the desire to keep yourself healthy and be within a healthy weight zone will fall into place :)
