I did love this film - however I should also mention that I may be a little biased as Ryan Gosling can do no wrong by me at the moment :D. I am therefore willing to ignore some of the absurd or weaker moments for me which included the very underdeveloped relationship between Gosling's and Mulligan's characters. However, I also appreciated that a lot of these things were perhaps deliberately unsaid and overall it worked for me.

Loved the cinematography and the soundtrack - made it feel very 1980s. It kind of reminded me of the Grand Theft Auto: Vice City video game, I had that on PS2 years ago and it was one of my favourites so anything with a similar vibe is going to interest me.

Come to think of it, Drive did remind me of that video game a lot. We don't know much about any of the characters so you can just use your imagination. However this means that the motivation of most of the characters appears to make no sense (unless you have already given them an interesting and imaginative back story) and the decisions they make lead to more absurd and irrational situations that can't seem to happen in real life. But they do and there is action and it just works.

Was not too keen on the graphic violence and while it was maybe a bit unnecessary, I don't think it was particularly out of place.
It's a tragic story and Gosling plays the surprisingly noble but tragic hero who obviously harbours a lot of demons so well
. 8/10 for me.

I guess some guys can wear it if they really like although you can't be too wide...

If I had pa*d for a ticket, I would have stormed out and demanded a refund. My friend did want to go down in the middle of the movie and speak to the ushers but I didn't want to miss any more of it than I already had. And plus by that time I was fuming so I thought it's best I keep away....

I personally felt they did that because it's a free screening and they don't think we don't have a right to complain. Erm, I don't think so. There was a particular late comer who was buzzing around like a bee in the bottom right hand corner of the screen so it was so hard to ignore him. I think he wanted to sit somewhere with his plus one who found an empty seat somewhere and just sat down. I don't think you have any right to be fussing about moving people around when you arrived late. Come on time, if you need a groping session in between.

I hope you also complain cinefila1.

It was given to the first fifteen people who walked into the screen. If you weren't the first fifteen then you wouldn't have got it. I did mention it in my earlier post.

I hope you weren't one of the late comers. :nono: They deserved nothing but a good whipping. Image

a_person is not wrong, it was a bit of a shambles at WIQ last night. That cinema is not convenient for late comers as most of the screens have an aisle in the middle so the best seats are on the edge. We decided to take two seats on the left side and I was pleased with our choice when I saw all the late comers streaming in as they would have had to shuffle past people on the right side who had got central seats near the middle aisle to get to the less desirable ones near the wall. However it was so distracting and while I have some sympathy for people when they are running a few minutes late, it was stretched yesterday as it was clear they couldn't just take their seats without causing a commotion due to the design of the cinema and some people insisting they sit together - when you are that late, you should just grab what you can. Then they put on the lights - arraahhh! I did really lose my concentration at that point. Wish they had just put us in a bigger screen - it was unusually small.

a-person, what time did your last friend arrive? We got to the cinema at about 6.15 and it wasn't very full but we weren't given a t-shirt - I really think the staff just wanted to keep them for themselves, especially if you had to take your friend down to get one. I think they were operating a 'don't ask, don't get' policy last night. I just assumed I was too late. Thinking about it, it wasn't that full when we went in but it could have been edging just past 20 though - not 100% sure I would have got one anyway.

Thanks a_person..I was definately not one of the late comers. Infact was there at 6.20 though most seats were taken by then.

I am with you on late comers situation..I was myself very surprised on the cinema firstly letting them in and then even switching on the lights and have other people move up to let the late comers get a seat! never seen that before..

She was the 14th person in the screen (yes, I was that sad, I actually counted to keep a track of the ushers) and when I went down and she had taken her t-shirt there was only one left hence my assumption of 15 t-shirts given out. She came about 5:55pm. I'm unsure how they even missed her as she had her printout AND she walked straight past the lady giving the t-shirt who would have seen her printout.

They use screen 1 alot for Total Film screenings although I am still baffled how such a shit film like Little White Lies which hardly had any people in the screening had a much bigger screening than this one. The majority of the films I've watched have been in this one or the one directly above on the third floor (equally the same size).

Will you be complaining opas? I shall be commenting on David's blog where he wrote about WIQ (I suggest other people do too) and then send them a link to that blog.

The ticket clearly states "no late admittance" and although I can forgive people who are 2-3 minutes late, I cannot tolerate 15 minutes late into the movie and the light business was just totally the last straw.
