Re: Free Theatre/Concert Thread
Bit short notice... but just got this in email:
We have a few tickets available to
Paddy McGuinness & Jonathan Wilkes starring in brand new show exclusive to Manchester
Pantos On Strike
Opera House, Manchester
TONIGHT!!!
To download tickets: https://www.showfilmfirst.com/pin/733599
Showfilmfirst Vouchers must be redeemed at the Box Office between 7 and 7.45pm.
NOTE This is an over 18's show.
A hilarious new 'adults only' fairy tale musical, Pantos on Strike, makes its world debut at the Opera House, Manchester this November - with an all-star cast.
Paddy McGuiness and Jonathan Wilkes head the line-up of this original comedy show they have written and produced.
The show, which also features Coronation Street's Brian Capron as the baddie and Eric Potts as the dame, includes an exclusive song written by Robbie Williams.
And it also contains the 'world's most offensive song' - so be warned this show is for grown up boys and girls and don't bring the kids!
"Robbie Williams is writing the music, I'm writing the jokes and Jonny looks good in a Prince's costume. What could possibly go wrong?" joked Paddy.
Attention grown up boys and girls, Panto land is in crisis! Evil King Foo has kidnapped Princess Crystal so all of your favourite Panto characters have gone out on strike in protest. Who can save this fairy tale world & restore order in Panto land? Step forward Panto hero Jonny Wilkes and his less than enthusiastic side-kick Paddy McGuinness to rescue the situation. The odds are stacked against them but with the help of Snow White, 'Big Dick' Whittington, a cross dressing dwarf and a whole host of other Panto characters, they'll try their best...
Bolton-born stand-up comedian and actor Paddy McGuinness found fame with his appearances in That Peter Kay Thing, Phoenix Nights and Max and Paddy's Road to Nowhere. He recently was seen on TV screens in the primetime dating game show Take Me Out and Pantos on Strike will be Paddy's first appearance in a musical!
Jonathan Wilkes is one of the UK's most popular theatre performers, having starred in musicals like The Wedding Singer, We Will Rock You, The Rocky Horror Show and Grease, as well as appearing every festive season in panto in his hometown of Stoke-on-Trent.
Brian Capron won numerous awards for his role as Corrie serial killer Richard Hillman. On stage he has appeared in musicals including Guys & Dolls and The Rocky Horror Show. Brian was last seen on the Opera House stage in the comedy drama Stepping Out, for which he was nominated for an MEN Theatre Award.
Eric Potts is probably best known for his portrayal of baker Diggory Compton in Coronation Street. A much in demand pantomime dame, Eric won rave reviews for his role of Widow Twankey in last year's Opera House panto Aladdin, which he also wrote and directed.

Lyle & Scott Announces
‘Curated by Lyle and Scott’
Gig Series with Launch Event on
8th December 2010
http://www.ticketweb.co.uk/user/?region ... ent=418958
Lyle & Scott is excited to announce the launch of ‘Curated by Lyle & Scott’ - a series of four gigs taking place at XOYO, the UK’s most exciting new music venue. Focusing on showcasing new talent, Lyle & Scott will be presenting the very best in emerging talent and further strengthening this iconic brand’s association with new music. The first show will take place on 8th December with the following shows taking place in early 2011. The fourth slot at each of the 2011 gigs will be decided by the public through a fan competition taking place via www.facebook.com/lyleandscott
‘We are hugely excited about 'Curated by Lyle & Scott’ which demonstrates our desire to support emerging talent within the music industry in the UK and provide a showcase for young bands', said Jess Pugh, Lyle & Scott’s Marketing Manager.
Headlining the first show will be James Yuill whose combination of acoustic ballads with a dancefloor pulse won him many plaudits when he emerged in 2008, quickly making him an influential part of London’s folktronica scene. A laptop troubadour and a superb exponent of moody electronica, his live performances are a truly unique experience: one minute you're drawn in to the tender simplicity of his voice and acoustic guitar, the next minute your head's spinning and your feet are moving to the dazzling array of beats and effects pumped out by James's laptop and boxes of tricks - not bad for a one man show that fits neatly into a reconditioned guitar case.
Dreamy indie-pop duo Babe Shadow have been making waves of late with recent sessions on Rob da Bank’s Radio 1 show and gaining the accolade of NME Breakthrough Band of the Week. Their laidback, buoyant, clean-picked love songs mark them out as a band to keep an eye on next year and if you don’t believe us then here’s Florence Welch admitting that the band are her current crush. “Babe Shadow have been brightening up my pre tour rituals with their open hearted calypso-style beautiful pop songs”. Having played a number of festivals over the summer their Curated By Lyle & Scott show marks a welcome return to more intimate surroundings.
With sparse melodies, melancholic beats and lush echoing vocals, Oxford trio, Trophy Wife describe their music as ambitiousless office disco / commuter pop. Don’t be fooled though, their unabrasive sound has quickly found them many admirers and recent Moshi Moshi single, ‘Microlite’ is a track so perfectly formed you can hardly believe it’s their debut. With sparse rhythms, a gentle electronic pulse and fragile vocals their sound has seen them compared to Vampire Weekend and The XX and the band have recently toured with Foals, Bombay Bicycle Club and Crystal Castles.
