I'm taking my parents so the standards will have to be really high else my Mum and Dad will never stop complaining.

I have never been, so can't help, but what a lovely treat for your parents! Can I be your mum?! :P

So, I have won that two night spa break in Cardiff, valid to 31 May next year. I am hoping to combine it with a longer holiday so what does one do in Cardiff?

There's the castle, you could see a concert in St David's Centre, get free tickets to the cinema.

Go to the area around Cardiff, maybe Brecon Beacons.

There are umpteen castles in the wider area - when my sister and I were there earlier this month, we used a leaflet which contained details of over 20 and that wasn't an exhaustive list. Last time we stayed there, we went to an opera at the Millennium Centre and to the Museum of Welsh Life at St Fagans and on a boat trip. I think you'll be spoilt for choice.

can't help much as I was there for a hen weekend, wearing these silly outfits, playing pranks on the bride to be, and club crawling around Cardiff town centre ..... in freezing temperatures! It was mad!

I think Venice is overrated and a tourist trap but Milan is fabulous, and so close on the train to Lake Como (George Clooney). If you take a cheapo flight to Bergamo, make sure to explore that town too, it's a little gem.

Well it's a lot of singing in gondolas and couples on honeymoon. Personally I wasn't all that enamoured with Venice.
Milan has everything - art, culture (an opera house), big old buildings (the Duomo is breathtaking), huge parks, shopping, nightlife, and it's very easy to get around as they have a simple Metro system.
