Re: Free Theatre/Concert Tickets Discussion Thread
I still doubt it to be honest, because that's just asking for people to wait for free tickets to show up instead of b*ying some. I've never been to a musical that was entirely full, there's always empty seats even at big shows such as Wicked or We Will Rock You

Business-wise it makes no sense for them, I am sure the Cameron MacKintoshs, Bill Kenwrights and Andrew Lloyd Webbers are not happy with what they've done. If it doesn't sell, just close it down like Love Never dies
But yes the FMUK side of me will be hoping for more free tickets

Correction, Andrew Lloyd Sondheim
Personally I just hope they don't close down prematurely
It really is very similar to We Will Rock You and can be a big hit amongst tourists etc.

The Shaftsbury has never been lucky with getting longer term productions. I am sure this one will have the best chance

So maybe the production could move to a smaller and more central venue if one became available? There has been a lot of shunting around lately amongst West End shows/plays.

True, I rememeber Flashdance closed down within a few months and that was the last "major" production there, wasn't it?superhero wrote:The Shaftsbury has never been lucky with getting longer term productions. I am sure this one will have the best chance

I've been to a sold out Dirty Dancingcanadian_turtle wrote: I've never been to a musical that was entirely full, there's always empty seats even at big shows such as Wicked or We Will Rock You
(and I think they were almost always sold out everyday on the day)
Long life to RoA \m/
They had Hairspray at Shaftesbury as well if I recall correctly!
(but then it's much less popular on this side of the Atlantic!)

Ah ok. I haven't seen Dirty Dancing I have to say. Maybe shows I've been to were technically also sold out then, but I always saw plenty of empty seats which may have been allocations for specific companies?
