Had two brilliant nights out.

On Thursday, a friend won a Telegraph personal shopping event, with £100 voucher to spend - although a tiny clutch bag costs £995! Wonder if I can afford anything even in the sales :D How the other half lives.

It was held in an lovely Victorian townhouse, beautiful quality items of clothing, shoes and bags and jewellery. We had champagne and nibbles, and a mini manicure. A very relaxing and enjoyable evening. Even had a chat with the Telegraph writer whose idea it was and who organised it. If successful, she was going to do more!

Yesterday, got invited to the London Fashion Week after party at Pacha London. OH knows the organisers. When we got there, the queue for the guest list was longer than the normal queue, and took us half an hour to get in. But the fashion show was brilliant, afterwards we chatted to the models and the organiser. OH had loads of photos taken with the organiser and the models. He loved it.

Did anyone go to Swarovski Discover your light event today? A friend went and said it was so tiring but so much fun. Lots of giveaways, food, drinks

PXC, my OH and I went to the Churchill War Rooms (formerly Cabinet War Rooms) in Westminster last night. I’d never been there before so it was very interesting looking around the museum and other rooms. We got a really good speech from the manager who told a few anecdotes about the time and Churchill, like when George Bernard Shaw invited him to the first night of his new play with the words “Bring a friend – if you have one”. And Churchill replied that the couldn’t make the first night but would come to the second night – “if there is one”. :giggle:

Then food came out, which was good and plentiful but it was in a buffet style and consisted basically of cold meats and fish with some cheese sticks and vegetables – I would have expected proper bread with cold platters! It was nice and fresh though, especially the fish. We then had to find a post box in the building to post our business cards in for the prize draw – which unfortunately I didn’t win though I found the post box.

I am going to the Royal Hospital Chelsea tonight if I can muster up the energy – they are promising “plenty of drinks, food and entertainment”. I wouldn’t be surprised if superhero was there too, he seems to get all the same invites!

Funny they had Fedex as a sponsor (I suppose it goes with the posting your business card into the postbox).

No I won't be going to Chelsea, it's too far out if I want to catch a play tonight too. I am going to something else in the West End.

I am dead tired now but had a brilliant night. The Royal Hospital Chelsea is the most beautiful building, with a chapel, some characterful rooms for hire and a great hall that was simply amazing. It would be, it was designed by Christopher Wren! We were very early so had the pleasure of a private guided tour by a very nice lady who showed us around everywhere. The Chelsea Pensioners were walkind around in their red uniforms, answering questions as well, and then the food started. Oh my. They had a huge buffet of fish and vegetables, and on another table they gave you a small Yorkshire pudding with beef and several sauces. They had herring that was simply to die for. Often enough herring is doused in vinegar and tastes quite sour, but this one just simply tasted of fish. Delicious. Adding to that, waitresses were constantly offering you canapes, one of which were delectable tiger prawns with mango on a stick - I could have eaten the entire plate full. After we were thoroughly stuffed, and saying hi to a few people we know (you meet the same people over and over again at these events), we went outside again to have a leisurely stroll in the warm air. They have a beautiful garden with a golden statue of King Charles II in the middle, and some canons at the far end, which leads down to the space where the annual Chelsea Flower Show is held. When we finally decided to leave, we got a goody bag each, and mine came with beautiful long-stemmed white rose!
