Re: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2
Man did the red carpet thingy drag on a bit. Almost as long as the film. Went to the toilet twice and didn't think the surprise thing was that great. Yes thank each other and pat each other on the back. You are all brilliant. La de da. Good to see cheekdevil and OH.
Well what can I say about the actual film? Totally awesome. I haven't read any of the books but OH says it stays pretty much true to the book as a film can. Had an annoying girl at end of the row who liked clapping every so often. But not too many young children. It would had been their bedtime by the film finishes. It was my bedtime too.
The film is very dark and more adult-like. The wee girls in front of me jumped a bit in the more scarier bits. Could it had been 2D? Probably but I guess I did like the 3D. It was sharper and I do think it helps sitting further from the screen. We were very lucky as our cinema let us in around 17:15. OH nearly had a heart attack as ticket was in OH's name but it turn out it the name on the list was in mine's. So much for changing it and again luckily I did go even though they never checked out any ID. Security didn't check us but only cos they knew me. Handy really!
Does anyone else think when they do battles with their wands, it could be lightsabers as it is different colours or is it just me. Plus when the big battle was pretty much like one of the battles in LotR.
Anyhoo one not to be missed and it doesn't disappoint even after the wait.

OMG.
That is all.
[spoiler]Note: OMG. refers to the epic true to the story scenes as well as the shock of altered scenes/non included scenes.
And for the record: Voldemorts soul looked HORRIBLE D: and I cringed at the snake attack
and cried when Snape died

Well as Yinster said it did go on quite a bit!! However loved seeing all the action in Trafalgar Square and all the drsses. Such a shame JK's was so long looked a real pain.
No problems getting in Edinburgh, but they started letting folks in at 5.15 so we got good seat.
Loved the film, highly recommended. Lived up to the hype, but dont think really one for the wee kids altho there were a lot in Edinburgh who did not look 12. Great night out, even clapped at the end of it
.....and it was dry when we came out too

Re: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2
Saw this in Leicester tonight. Absolutely amazing. The premiere bit did drag on, but I found myself enjoying it even though I didn't think I would. I cried numerous times. The theatre wasn't full, there were 3 empty rows in front, but I was happy about that as I ended up sitting in a row by myself instead of in the very last row where they originally made me sit (I hate sitting in the back! I'm a sucker for the front rows
). I was really impressed with everything. There's really not much more I can say besides AMAZING.

Re: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2
Well that was certainly a long evening. Arrived at 5pm and joined OH plus SunnySaver and hdaniel82 in the queue. Luckily they had started the entrance procedure already so we got in pretty quickly. We showed our ticket and ID and once they had verified our name from the guestlist we were good to go. No allocated seats thank God so got some good ones in the middle of the last row.
It started filling up slowly but surely and we had an overefficient usher who constantly asked people to move up so no seats were left empty. We had an empty seat either side of us so decided to move one up so as to create two empty seats at one end. The stupid couple next us however immediately moved one up again! There is no telling some people. It rapidly filled up with lots more FMUKers, we had funthing29 and valda in front of us, and MrGlass and weirdfilms came up to say hi. Next to us was MariaLionza who suddenly told me that prettyxcool was denied entry as her ticket was from another FMUKer who must have changed her name back again so even though it gave PXC's name on the ticket, it did not match with the name on the guest list! Wonder whether anyone else fell foul of this? Luckily, SunnySaver overheard and sprang into action - she happened to have another pair and managed to get PXC + OH in as her and OH's plus ones. We also managed to get them in our row together - stupid couple were suddenly surrounded by FMUKers, LOL. Superefficient usher was still on the prowl, pouncing everytime someone went outside to enquire whether this was an empty seat now! I went to the toilet twice, and on the second time encountered an almighty queue outside that snaked past the toilets - they were still checking people in!
We got footage from the red carpet pretty much straight away but I didn't p*y close attention as it was just an endless parade of names and faces, plus deafening screams from the fans. I was expecting the film to start at 7pm but they just didn't stop interviewing people, and then the moderator kept repeating that we were moments away from "something really special happening." What could that be - someone abseiling from a helicopter? Dragons over London? Devoted fans being given premiere tickets or a giant screen to watch the film on? Oh but no. The "special thing" were cringeworthy soppy speeches from cast and crew that just did NOT end. I started to suffer badly from boredom and exasperation until FINALLY at 7.45pm they turned them off and gave us the film. Hoo-bloody-ray.
I thought it was a good film but the 3D was so not necessary and in my opinion they screwed up the ending - not the 19 years later bit, but the Harry/Voldemort battle. It's my favourite moment in the book when Harry explains to poor Tom Riddle the thing about the elder wand and who its true master is - here it just did not happen that way, and a lot of the scenes felt incredibly rushed.
I also would have liked to see Neville Longbottom 19 years older! And Luna Lovegood. Those two are so excentric and so good.
It was lovely to see phunkygal on the way out!
7.5/10

Re: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2
Well that was my least favourite part in the book for me. I havn't seen this yet (curses), but the ending in the book felt anti climactic to me, it didn't feel like Harry beat him in a battle, moreso Voldemort having a moment of stupidity, dampening him as a villain, and Harry getting lucky. 7 years of buildup and preperation for him to get lucky felt like a waste.Beate wrote:I thought it was a good film but the 3D was so not necessary and in my opinion they screwed up the ending - not the 19 years later bit, but the Harry/Voldemort battle. So to hear they have changed that is a blessing for me. But so sorry having to wait long
