Great to see Beate, Bevvy and canadian_turtle. We had to behave because canadian_turtle was sitting in front of us and we didn't want to get a bad report -- "morons sitting behind us on their phones and kicking our seats..."

I actually stopped my popcorn-munching after a while because I couldn't figure out whether it might be a bit loud or not. Thanks to ejwrank for the extra bag - all hail to Americans only liking salted popcorn I guess.
I actually don't find popcorn munching annoying (it sounds louder to the person doing the munching than their neigbours, unless they eat with their mouth open or something), but the packaging usually makes a lot of noise when people grab inside of it. So I held mine upside down and let the popcorn fall into my hand XD

Went in with low expectations after having read someone fo the less complimentary reviews but found myself entralled by the genious graphics depicting the apes ... and the softy that I am I actually found myself caring for those chimps. Yes not a classic and nor the tightest plot but very engaging none-the-less.

Hi
I am new here, so thought I ought to post something!
I say this today and was rather dissapointed.
Great digital FX but really weak characterisation. For me, it had little suspense or tension.
Any one else feel the same way?

The human characters were a bit week, well except from Tom Felton's character but I might be biased as i'm a big HP fan. However i felt the characters of the apes were very good, especially as they could not even talk and it was just down to their facial expressions and their physical acting. But it was a really good movie and held my attention all the way through!

Quite enjoyed this movie loved the fast action and special effects. Also noticed the many similarities between this film and Project Nim. 8.5/10

Yes I find just the motion capture technology alone on Caesar carries the film despite varies flaw later on in the film. Isn't it just stunning? The emotional range, the hair, the movements? Hair's always tricky to do. This is a huge improvement from when they did CGI effects on Congo.
I don't know if anyone's mentioned this, Andy Serkis for a Best Actor nomination? I think he was just brilliant. I think the days when we see an actor getting a nom from motion capture technology isn't far away.
Some of the human storyline are weak, but it's nice to see John Lithgow and Brian Cox(underused). However this really is Caesar's story and from that aspect it's just brilliant and for once, people enjoy the CGI effects because it's not for it's own sake, but really adds to the tragic storyline. 8/10

True the motion capture for Caesar was stunning.
I think, maybe, I was influenced by seeing Project Nim earlier in the week, which I found very moving. It also reminded me how many chimps are still used for animal experimentation in the UK and accross the world.

Caesar was by far the best character portrayal, every bit of his acting was really emotive. I actually quite liked the bit where the other apes were attacking Rodney and then Caesar stopped them and put him in a cage nicely. Cannot wait for the sequel and yes Andy Serkis should definitely win an award.

I don't know what the rules are though regarding acting nominations, if you're just being motion-captured....

I agree, definitely a film I'll watch again and Andy Serkis definitely deserves and award for his performance.
