Re: Weight Watchers
Love the cartoon Mr Glass. Must go to the gym! Exercise works for me - half an hour to three quarters a day and then I can eat loads! Keeps you healthy and fit too.

Re: Weight Watchers
Thanks so much for the spread sheet, I'm very impressed. I love having it formatted so I can see exactly what I've had and need to do, the evidence speaks for itself ie my recent weight gain due to being greedy. If I was 6ft 2 manual working bloke I would have maintained my weight
I could also do with increasing the frequency of my walks and I will pick up my speed as suggested. Thanks everyone for being so lovely and supportive

Re: Weight Watchers
Glad you find the spreadsheet useful, Diane65! I'll be making more improvements on it such as adding buttons to edit and delete entries in the food list database. You can do it manually on the FoodDB sheet but its nice to have the buttons. The updates will import your existing data, so no need to re enter.
Also use these comprehensive food database websites to look up calories when not given on your packet labels suchs as fruits etc.
http://www.caloriedatabase.com/ - Very large db and brilliantly simple. Gives you initially 4 pieces of info, Calories, carbs, protein and fat. Exactly what you need to work out your balanced meal ratio. Beginners should start with 50-55% carb, 30% protein, 15-20% fat. Click on the item, and it also gives all the nutritional values. Superb site.
http://caloriecount.about.com/calories- ... ces-ic0900 - This one is very comprehensive too but searching for your item is a bit more cumbersome. But this site also gives the food grading and tells you what what is good and bad about each item. All foods are graded in nutritional value. All of us must aim for all Foods graded A or B. C is OK but aim for A or B all the time.
http://www.weightlossresources.co.uk/ca ... efault.htm - This one is more limited in its database that is free to access but there is a £7.99 per month subscription if you want access to its full database along with other weight loss resources. I think its a bit too much to p*y. But the items that are free to access are the items that usually dont state their calories on the label so its still worth bookmarking into your favourites. Another advantage of this database is that it is the only British specific database I've listed here that includes every product you b*y from a British supermarket and is continuously updated. There is a free 24 hour trial which you can take advantage of to see if its worth a subscription. The website itself is a wealth of resources for losing weight but I dont recommend it because I dont like the way it emphasises on losing weight and not ever mentioning fat loss.
Dont forget, everyone, you want to adapt to a healthy eating lifestyle that you will be comfortable maintaining for the rest of your life. You dont want to go on a diet. Diets are temporary quick "fixes" which after reaching your goal, you pile the fat back on with interest.
prettyxcool, 45 mins cardio at the gym is perfect, also add in some weights as its important to strengthen your muscles to complement the cardio. Reason for the weights is that they help the fat burn of your cardio for much longer time after you do your cardio. Ideally get a program from the gym instructors, its all part of your subscription, take advantage of it! Also, eat the right balance of nutritious food, not just eat more
If you are the type that dont put on weight, noticeably, dont think you are lucky and exceptional and can eat anything and as much as you like. Far from it, you have to be even more careful. In fact, if you dont have a healthy balanced diet, you are more in the danger zone of several heart related deceases. Reason is, you put on more fat internally than externally. So more fat is clogging up your heart and lungs and you may not realise it. You too have to follow the same rules. Dont want to scare you, just want you to learn how your body works and treat it with respect!
Will cover the cardio/weights part of the book in the new year :)

Re: Weight Watchers
Thx Mr Glass
Every day I do a different class as recommended by my gym teacher, one day upper body circuit, another lower body, another day, stretch, another, spinning, etc. I like variety. When I say I eat loads, I mean I eat loads of healthy food, always freshly cooked daily! Unfortunately, I do put on weight. ;-( hence the gym and lots of walking everywhere, not just to keep supple and fit.

Re: Weight Watchers
Just getting back into the healthy eating after Christmas, did have a few treats but found that I didn't fancy the 'bad' foods as much as I usually would at this time of year!! Maybe I've finally gone off them for good, fingers crossed
Too scared to get on the scales for now just in case I have put on weight, but been going to the gym most days, so hopefully will be ok, tried a pair of my work trousers on yesterday and they still fit, hopefully be brave enough to get on the scales next week.

Re: Weight Watchers
So I held my breath and jumped on the scales this morning... I put on 2 pounds since the beginning of December, not too bad considering the drinking/eating I did over Christmas, definitely back to healthy eating now, want to lose a lot more weight before the summer

Re: Weight Watchers
2 lbs isn't bad at all, and now its all over you can get back to healty eating etc.
I put on 11 lbs in total, since I stopped Weight Watchers so that must be about 2 months.
I'm back to the gym now, so hopefully it will be very quickly dispensed with vx

Re: Weight Watchers
back to healthy eating for me as well. found a recipe online for a barley salad.
am eating it now and oh my is it disgusting! it needs salt, pepper and chilli at the very least to make it even slightly edible. ideally it just needs chucking in the bin but i don't like waste and then i would have to find something else to eat which would most likely be something unhealthy from subway!
