not being mean on purpose but shes the weak link in the movies as far as acting ability goes. You cant deny shes appalling at times, you know?. its a shame she wasnt recast earlier in the series. She definitely has the look of a Hermione though. I shouldnt really complain now though, its all done and dusted until they make the tv series on bbc.
fav 5 films of the year - Tenet, Bill n Ted 3, Invisible Man, JoJo Rabbit, ?

Well, in 10 years Daniel Ratcliffe has certainly grown from a small 11 year old kid to a small 21 year old man. Unless, of course, the people around him yesterday at the premiere were really tall.

Despite not being a HP fan and having only seen a few of the earlier movies, I enjoyed the film as it relieved me from the utter boredom of the neverending red carpet broadcast. To think that some diehard HP fans had been camping out for days in the pouring rain sends shivers down my spine...

What's with the sudden Emma Watson criticism? I think she was a superb Hermione right from the start. In fact she was more Hermione in the first 3 films than the latter films. In the early films she was perfectly snotty, smartass, and absolutely charming but later she introduced a touch too much angst expressions into her potrayal of the character. She grew up to be too beautiful to actually look like the Hermione from the book who is not meant to be pretty and a little scruffy looking "know-it-all". Rupert Grint has a similarly bizarre journey. He was bloody brilliant in the early films to coin his own character's phrase and for me the most enjoyable of the trio but in later films he bacame a lot more subdued and seem to have lost that kinetic energy he had as a kid. Having said that his comic timing was still great but not so consistently. I thought Rupert would be the one to excel ahead of both Radcliff and Watson but turns out to be the opposite. As for Daniel Radcliffe, well he has come a long way and gave it his all to the best of his ability, learning from the British thespians as much as he can. I think he has limited range but the work and effort and energy he has makes up for that and by the end of this saga, we Brits can be proud of his 10 year achievement to carry the biggest ever franchise on his shoulders.

I agree with all of this, you perfectly nailed both Emma and Rupert's changes throughout the years. *applauds*

Mr. Glass, where is your literary award?

Member number 33 of the "100 free films in 2012" club. I saw 32, which is rather delightful.. I beat Mr. Glass on free films but he narrowly inched me out on total films seen.

Member number 33 of the "100 free films in 2011" club. I saw 20, interestingly enough. My more realistic target was to see more free films than TheyCallMeMrGlass. I lost.

sorry glassie, I cant agree with your opinion of watto, for me shes blatantly pants in many scenes dunno if you were watching a different version to me. but i agree Radcliffe has come on well and Rupert has been good (if a little 2d later) from the start. I dont think I can see anyone else playing potter now, but I can easily envisage Hermione being replaced with someone like say Dakota Blue Richards (Frankie from the new Skins). Emma shone in the first two films when she was just being herself, I grant you that.

Its probably a bit mean of me to pick on kids as Beate says, I hope I am not being too harsh but her acting is a major turnoff in the movies. At the IMAX marathon she got lots of unintentional laughs so there might be a reason her name is used as the definition of the worst british actress in Urban Dictionary http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.p ... %20actress

Thought this was the best of the four David Yates films. 8/10 from me.

The Order of the Phoenix and Half Blood Prince installments left me strangely cold.
My personal favourite still remains the Alfonso Cuaron directed Prisoner of Azkaban. looking at the box office receipts though this was the least successful of all the films so I guess I am in the minority.

You're not in the minority. A lot of people tend to view the Prisoner of Azkaban as their favourite. It's certainly got the highest RottenTomatoes score (if you exclude the Deathly Hallows Part II) and it won the highest result in this poll: http://www.imdb.com/poll/results/2011-05-26
