We need something to look forward to next winter now that the Potter, Narnia and Lord of the Rings books have been used up.

well, theres more Narnia, but the books are well cranky after Dawn Treader, noone can seriously want them to be filmed as accurate portrayals.
Next one will be The Magicians Nephew, a prequel, and my favourite book in the whole series :) But in terms of the Silver Chair and Last Battle, I dont think they will make those as you say unless they radically rewrite them. I despise the Last Battle book anyway and even the BBC adapation ignored that one!

I thought the first film was going to be The Hobbit and the second one a bridge story between the events of the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings? I prefer that idea. Splitting one story into 2 films doesnt work for me. It didnt work for Harry Potter. But it obviously works as a new profitable business model. I hate it. Kills the pacing of a movie. Harry Potter suffered that terribly when they did that to the last book.

As I understand it, the first film cuts at the end of Mirkwood, so the main plot is in the second movie, but yes that accomodates a bridge which is a natural extension of the Hobbit anyway, so its a good idea rather than a cash in.

A further bridge is The Hunt For GOllum, if anyones not seen it yet, feast on -
