I collected my meet and greet tickets at 5pm then was escorted (along with valda and hopeprince) to the designated area behind the barrier next to the cinema entrance. The music was playing really loudly over the speakers and there was an annoying host (I've seen him on TV, channel 4 I think, but can't remember his name). There were also some dancing robots on the blue carpet. We kept hearing that 'Hugh is on his way' over and over again. There were some other celebs posing for photos but I didn't recognise anyone. After the non-existent premiere that was The Devil's Double, it was nice to be at a premiere where they had clearly put some effort in. A good chunk of Leicester Square was closed off for the blue carpet and there was giant screen for the crowds to see people being interviewed.

a_person and pxc talked their way into the meet and greet area (pxc has some xtra cool blagging skills!). Hugh finally turned up at about 6.15pm but he spent so long making his way along the barriers that by the time he came to the end of the blue carpet where we were (this was at 7.15pm and we were meant to be seated by 6.45pm) he pretty much ran past our barrier, signing the odd autograph and posing for only a few photos. He then went into the cinema and there was loud sigh of disappointment. He then came out briefly to the very end of the barrier and I squeezed my way to the front. He posed for a photo with the girl next to me then I tapped him on the arm (his big muscular arm! :D) and asked for a photo with him. pxc got a really good picture so I'm well chuffed. Those members who are friends with me on Facebook will be able to view the photo. ;)

So it was a 2 hour wait to see Hugh and it wasn't really a meet and greet but it was worth it! I wish I had known we would be waiting so long though as I hadn't brought any food with me and we weren't allowed to leave the meet and greet area.

We were then rushed into the screen since the premiere was running about 30 mins late. Hugh was posing for photos in the cinema foyer but the security wouldn't let me take any pictures and sharply informed me to take my seat. It was in screen 1 at the Empire, and there was popcorn and bottled water on the seats. I was in the third row in the stalls which is too close to the screen for me. I would never voluntarily sit there so I did have a sore neck when the film finished.

The director, producers and Hugh gave a quick intro then the film began.

I thought the film was OK but nothing special. The boxing robots were entertaining and looked very realistic, definitely the highlight of the film, but the story was too schmaltzy. Charlie was a bit of a d**k so it was hard to like him. I don't think the story redeemed him much either but Jackman did well enough with the material he was given. The boy was excellent though. The film was a bit too long, it was more than 2 hours long and could easily have been shorter. The end was also way overdone. It was so corny and it was trying to make me cry, but it just made me cringe.

6/10.

That's exactly what annoys me about premieres. You get the worst seats in the house (3rd front from stalls seems to be popular for that), you wait around for hours, it always starts late and you see the stars for only about 2 minutes. If I was you I would complain about the non-existent meet and greet. It was the same with Jason Momoa at the Soho Hotel and somehow they seem to think that competition winners aren't important enough and pose for pictures with other celebs instead. Disgraceful.

I complained to the PR company about the badly organised meet and greet (and lack thereof) and they are going to send me a Real Steel goody bag in the post. o/
