Didn't realise this was a press screening until I got there this morning! Most people had tickets. I saw a few SFF vouchers but everyone was allowed in and free to choose stalls or circle. There were loads of kids all buzzing with excitement. The lady who did the introduction said we were the first audience anywhere in the world to see the film and there was no embargo. She encouraged us to tweet/blog/facebook our impressions. Well, as KK said above, it's a film to admire rather than love, they've really raised the bar with the visuals and the action sequences are amazing but I'm afraid the hero, Tintin is no Indiana Jones, he's too bland to care about. Much preferred Captain Haddock with his alliterative expletives ("ten thousand thundering typhoons!!" and "billions of blue blistering barnacles!!" and the best dog in the world, Snowy. I would p*y to watch this again, just to see what I missed the first time round. 8/10

I thought Tintin was SO much better than I had expected it to be! The opening credits started of great, very much like the comics and as KK pointed out the very first time we even see Tintin's face it's Herge's version, not the computer animated one - which is really neat. In fact I do still prefer the hand drawn character as I thought out of all the characters in the movie they just couldn't get Tintin's face right. He looked off for some reason, even though most of the other characters were either extremely like the comic version or at times even looked like really people, not computer animations.

The other visuals were great and really captured the places they were supposed to represent while still putting in plenty of quirky little comic book things, such as birds flying above a head when someone's knocked out.

The storyline was good too (despite not revolving around actually unicorns - such false advertising!) though despite the fab action and fight sequences the movie did drag on a bit and felt like it was too long even though it lasted an average 1 hour and 45 minutes.

The 3D adds depth but is largely useless as it's nothing like the 3D I had straight after at the Doctor Who Experience where things actually come out towards you. But at least the 3D/glasses didn't make the movie too dark for once, the only nuisance with it was the fact that it's uncomfortable to wear glasses over my own glasses.

Special mention to Andy Serkis who imho completely stole the show as Captain Haddock.

8.5/10

P.S. Disappointed at the lack of tea/coffee/croissants; there was nothing! :(

Despite some pacing problems, this was great entertainment. The animation is stunning and the film looks incredible. The motorcycle chase in the second half being the highlight. Tremendous score by John Williams as well, very Indiana Jones in places.

Might go and see this again next Sunday at the Sky screening as there is so much going on that you can't catch everything first time. Very much looking forward to the next one.

I could have done with some free coffee to wake me up - it was hard getting up so early in a Sunday. It was pretty crowded outside at 10am but the doors opened promptly and everyone came in. NO hanging around like a pauper for the press and families to get in first, we all went in together and you could go up or down.

The opening credits were fantastic, I could have watched them for ever. As to the film, I'm not really a fan of these types of animated films. Whilst things like hair, water, grass etc look like the real thing, people never do. That's just my opinion.
So the story itself is 3 different stories merged into one. Lots of atmosphere, dark shadows and an almost film noir feel to it. I actually prefered the beginning of the film to the last third. It seemed to be very long, and every sequence for me went on too long, there was far too much happening for too long. You need some quite time too in a film. I was sort of drifting off in the middle, until the kids behind me kicked the back of the seat

All in all, an entertaining film and it will be interesting to see how its received by the public. My friend is taking his 6 year old son next week, and they have been reading the books at bedtime, I'll find out from them what they thought of it 7/10
preferred locations Shepherds Bush, Westfield, Notting Hill, Central London, Wimbledon, Islington, Wandsworth thanks

I watched an old Tintin cartoon last night and my god it felt long and it was only 45mins. I did actually enjoy the cartoon but it was never ending. So I think I get the gist of CA and KK criticsm of the new films length. But anyway I just saw this brand new trailer just reeleased and it really looks even more impressive than what the previous trailers have shown.

Absolutely loved this! Thanks again to Amie for the tickets. So funny, and the animation was incredible. 3D added nothing though. Looking forward to part 2!

One small gripe, this was listed on the ticket as being at Paramount studios on Golden Square even though the selectable dot on the Paramount previews had said the W Hotel on Leciester Square. So merrily went off to Golden Square, got there and they had no knowledge of the screening. Bumped into ucakpam there and we went off to the W Hotel to try our luck there. It was indeed at the W Hotel!! Silly Paramount getting the tickets wrong. Luckily Leicester Square and Golden Square arent too far apart, only a 7 minute walk so we made it easily. Lovely little screening room in there too.

9/10
Preferred cinemas:
Weekdays: Central London (all West End), West India Quay, Greenwich O2, Vue Islington
Weekends: Greenwich (O2, Odeon, PH), Vue Stratford City, Stratford PH

Many thanks for taking me along with you, hdaniel82. Otherwise, I would have just gone home since I had no idea where the W Hotel was. Also, thanks again to cecanor for the ticket.

I really liked the film. The animation was awesome, but the 3D was redundant.
I was surprised that in the English version of Tin Tin the dog's name is Snowy instead of Milou.

Back from Glasgow showcase. It was about 80% full. We were first and the male security guy wasn't too sure what he was doing. Confused him when I said I wasn't going to use my phone then asked could I go in. He let me without checking my backpack but did check my parties. Though OH said later he mention something about her bag but it was her who said "Would you like to check it". I said you should had said "Would you like to know where I got it".

Anyhoo I loved the film. Thought the animation was excellent and the chase in Morocco was outstanding. I loved the journey from start to finish and Tintin is a lucky boy in having such a clever dog. The crane fight was also excellent. And the giggles and laughter from my party was frequency. Great Scott!! 8/10
