Carnage
Re: Carnage
Really enjoyed this film, brilliant acting, witty dialogue and scarily like real life.
It was our first time at the Lexi. Nice little cinema in a former ... something like a community centre ... good picture and sound quality and comfortable seats. The box office is run by volunteers, 100% of their takings go to an eco (and educational?) charity in South Africa.
I am glad we didn't give in to the temptation to go to witness the Big Miracle. If there hadn't been engeneering works on the Overground trains we could have got there very quickly (now we had to take two unrealiable buses) it would have been the perfect Sunday morning.
Were there any other FMUKlers?

Re: Carnage
Saw this at the Hackney Picturehouse this morning (totally agree with ejwrank that it's a LOVELY cinema - although I had the one person in the room who seemed to want to do a running commentary of the WHOLE film. A tad annoying.)
I thought the film was great - what an amazing script. Such a risky premise, it felt like I was watching a play, but somehow I really think it worked.
I thought at the beginning that Kate Winslet was doing her classic bit and hamming up the role too much, but she really redeemed herself in the second half.
Christoph Waltz just proves yet again that he is an incredible talent.

Re: Carnage
A treat to see this in Richmond (no travelling) and I thought it was very good, four excellent performances. I couldn't hear most of the incoming part of phone calls although the callers were credited but you could get the gist just from the receiving side. I wonder how many takes they needed cos it was not much more elaborate than if it had been performed straight through on stage.

Re: Carnage
Brilliant. Just brilliant. Superb performances, impeccably timed, and frequently hilarious. It would have been so much better if the unintelligent couple sitting behind me had stopped talking in loud tones and checking their phones. I wanted to scream at them but the man looked "hard" so I didn't. 9/10, proper review will come soon.

Re: Carnage
Well, tonight was my first time at the O2 and my first face to face with a fmuker - the very nice SimonV who now knows the difference between 'crêpe' and 'galette'!
I really enjoyed the film. I don't recall seing Jodie Foster in a film (only as a director), nor Kate Winslet - apart from Titanic and Eternal Sunshine... of course, but she never really seemed to stand out, to me. In Carnage, they amazed me, by their own acting, but also and especially as part of a great group of actors that were perfectly chosen for the roles.
Their distress, reactions and irony were hilarious, the story and dialogues brilliant. Surprising and very well written.
I can't find my words to do a proper review so: 9/10
edit: haha this is sh*t. I had many things to say but my brain is out. Sorry. Let's just say I liked it.

Carnage
I really enjoyed this film. The film was perfectly cast and the acting was excellent. I'm not surprised to hear that this was originally a play (which I haven't seen). Sorry I can't find any more words. It's 3:45 am & I'm non compos mentis at the moment. Will complete later.

Re: Carnage
That's more like it, a wonderful film, it feels like 2012 at the movies has finally got going after two so-so films and an absolute stinker.
It was joy to watch the simple scenario play out, twisting and turning as details were revealed and characters made temporary alliances with each other whilst never over stretching credibility
(although I did hear someone on the way out say "why didn't they just leave?" Er, because the movie would have been ten minutes long!!)
The direction and performances were universally excellent and it was a lot funnier than many so called comedies I've seen recently. Highly recommended.
I kept expecting the situation to flare into violence and I'm glad it didn't, but Christoph Waltz is so intense at times just by sitting there I half expected him to get up and beat everyone up or totally trash the room
Re: Carnage
Just seen this tonight in Croydon.
Chatted to the lovely ms thrifty!
After reading the positive reviews, I was expecting a fantastic film but sadly I was disappointed.
It was very well acted and true to life but I was bored. I kept thinking that this would have been better left as a play. I wasnt emotionally attached to anyone and I was not bothered whose fault it was at the end. It wasn't even that funny ( maybe I wasn't in right frame of mind)
Wouldn't mind seeing the play.
