Well a lot of the music was practically the same.

Am pretty sure that a lot wasn't!

Went in expecting exactly what I got - ludicrously dumb, brainless, visually spectacular gung-ho fun! If Michael Bay had directed this movie, it would have been EXACTLY THE SAME. However, I can't honestly say I found it as unintentionally hilarious as the rest of theatre dwellers (except for that utterly uneducated bit where they showed Obama on the illuminated lights in Piccadilly Circus). I'm fairly certain the cheesy dialogue, what little there was, and the deadpan delivery was completely intentional. If not, Peter Berg seriously needs to have his head checked. Speaking of Berg, he is clearly a HALO fan! Pity about Taylor Kitsch though - that dude has absolutely zero charisma.
As mentioned before this was f**king loud!!! The loudest movie-going experience I've had in London thus far. But of course, being the magnificent Empire, the dialogue didn't carry as well to the far end of the theatre and I struggled to understand what some of the characters were saying. But never mind the ear-shattering sound - the theatre occupants scurrying about like a bunch of mice were far more annoying! Let that be a lesson to you Empire! Never serve free beer (or a poor excuse for one like Budweiser) before a 120+ minute long sci-fi epic.

Light opening almost worked, Battleship sequence itself also fun, other 110 minutes, not so much. Noisy, ugly, awful.
Uhm, you and your friend weren't discussing '30 Rock', 'Amelie' and some other stuff before the movie by any chance, were you? A journalist-looking dude was sitting very close to me.

What happened in the post-credits scene? I walked out as soon as credits came up!

Thank you again to LiteupLee Xx I like films such as Starship Troopers and Transformers, sometimes it's refreshing to watch a film that doesn't take itself too seriously, but there is no excuse for the crazy volume! Would watch this film again but perhaps with a volume control in hand.

Tremendous fun. Loved it.
Left those few of us who stayed and saw the extended post-credits scene wondering where they were going with a possible sequel.
Yep, agree! Loved it, terrific fun. We stayed for most of the credits but not right until the end damnit! Can you spoiler tag what we missed?
This was another copy from a number of other films (no!). It even shares one of them (Species) with the beginning of the film.
The scene is set in Scotland (judging from this Americans seem to think time has stood still there since around the 50’s). Kids are playing on waste-ground with sticks etc. when something falls to Earth. There is much looking at it and prodding etc. before they smash it open with a rock. (Yes, what appears to be some form of escape pod from a highly sophisticated alien spaceship can be broken open by kids!). And then an alien hand slowly starts to appear.
If all those spaceships were successfully defeated by the navy then it seems unlikely that one (injured?) alien is sufficient for another blockbuster. So does he manage to phone home to bring re-enforcements? Or were they coming anyway and the destroying of the communications apparatus was really a waste of time? Or are there just more pods?
Regarding the post credits scene
The above description of the end scene isn't entirely accurate. The escape pod thing had already crash-landed before the scene and it's an adult who gets it open with a variety of tools including a chainsaw and a blow torch not just the three kids with a rock.
I was actually curious as to whether different countries will get a different scene as Scotland is mentioned earlier in the film along with a couple of other places including Ohio.
Oh and the free beer? f**king Budweiser. I should've known from that moment.
