tough & gritty & should please any fan of the comic. let down by lack of budget. 50 million more & this could have been the big summer blockbuster.

couldn't help feeling that sly stallone would have been great in THIS movie. karl urban is a bit.....small.

7/10, better than TDKR. worthy reboot.

This film is kick ass, amazing connection to the comic, much more appaelling than the butchered stallone version! Entertaining and deep, 3d maybe not neccesary but then again im never a fan of that...personal preference I suppose! Go watch it NOW

lol first film I p*y for, for about a year at least (disregarding £1 kids am screenings). I dont mind, I'd like to support a decent sequel.

EDIT - this movie was one for the fans really. Felt like a tv show, it was so stripped down in costs. Was this a bad thing? Not really, since the movie was in a closed environ most of the time. Should really have been called Judge Anderson the movie (lol), not Judge Dredd, it was more about her origin story than Dredd himself (her character being handled really well helped this immensely).

3d - good! I saw something I hadnt seen beforein 3d films, the adding of a false bottom black edge to the screen during one 3d scene that made things like blood crossing the edge appear like they were really coming out of the screen into the darkness of the cinema! Gruesome.

PS I didnt realise Judge Anderson failed her 'law' exams. Learnt something there!

This was fun! Nothing spectacular but enjoyable for what it is - a brainless, mindless, ultra-violent action flick.
The dialogue, setpieces & Karl Urban's soulless Judge constantly reminded me of Robocop. This could have easily doubled as a volume in that franchise.
The half a dozen "slow-mo" sequences were a bit annoying though.

Also, talk about nostalgia. I almost forgot the movie was filmed in Johannesburg, South Africa.
The entire opening sequence was shot on the M1 South concrete highway I used to travel on to get to work.
It's a damn shame movie-makers have a habit of using downtown Joburg to showcase filthy, dangerous, rundown areas when the rest of it is in fact, lush, green and actually quite beautiful.

Oh, anybody else think Olivia Thirlby (Judge Anderson) bears a striking resemblance to gorgeous Cat Deeley?

Average film, nothing new compared to the original. Think it could have done with some more one liners. 6.5/10
