I've got 'The Girl' on The Planner. I'm looking forward to watching that.

Quite enjoyable Sunday morning fare, but not very deep characters. Helen Mirren was much better than any of the others and the TV film about Tippi Hedren and The Birds seemed to be a more likely portrayal of Hitch.

Kingston was prepared for riots and warned no seats to be left unoccupied between people but in the event there were quite a few unoccupied seats in a very tiny screen. No mention of the MoS.

My friend and I saw this at Odeon Epsom (courtesy of funthing29 - thank you again!) in what was probably the largest auditorium but still quite full. Largely a quiet, well-behaved older audience, too, apart from the seat-kicker behind me! Good, solid, entertaining fare so 8/10 from me, though I can't compare it with The Girl as I haven't seen that. Lots of familiar faces, too, in well-rounded (no pun intended) parts.

Easy enough viewing but unremarkable and unmemorable. I would have expected Hopkins to bring something more to the performance. 6/10.

As already mentioned, The Girl is more interesting and showed greater complexity to Hitchcock's personality.

Sorry to see that some others didn't enjoy this as much as I did. I think that for one thing, it was more of an occasion for me as I was with a friend and we went out for lunch afterwards, but also, it was genuinely my sort of film, where there might be no surprises in terms of plot development but the writing and interaction of the characters made up for it. And had I not known that Anthony Hopkins was under there somewhere, I'd never have guessed who it was!

Well all four of us (entire family!) saw this at Islington Vue and we all enjoyed it. I especially liked it and thought there were good performances all round and Helen Mirren was terrific--I hadn't expected her role to be so big.

We live near the Gainsborough Studios (now sadly luxury flats which are officially in Hackney but claimed by Islington) where Hitchcock directed The Lady Vanishes and I was once told a story that Margaret Lockwood and other cast members used to be spotted by children going to the local school (where my children went). They have erected a huge bronze bust of Hitchcock which dominates the inner courtyard of the complex as their homage to him.

Glad to spot Celini, marialionza and phunkygal and very happy to have a chance to sit with and chat with Beate and OH.

I have to agree with Celini.... This was boring nothing happened for the whole film and there was nothing dramatic... I thought the acting was good.

I think if you are a fan of hitchcock and enjot his films, you might be more of a fan of the film!

I think it would make a better 1 hour TV special instead of a whole film...
