That, and the legal case central to the plot, was embellished - John Diviner had nothing to do with the case, and was a Gentleman's Steward. While the so-called seminal slavery case was not the one featured, but an earlier case, which Lord Mansfield ruled upon relating to an American who wanted to take his 'Slave' out of England against his will.
Thanks for putting the legal case into context, when I quickly read up on it, some of it didn't make sense in reference to the film.
I always expect Embellishment in films these days though.

The film makers were keen to make a link between Dido and Mansfield's legal judgements. The first and more significant case happen when she was a small child. The second when a teenager. Apparently she did assist Mansfield with secretary duties at home; but whether she influenced or even voiced her views is another matter; apparently little is known of her life.

I will send you some squirrels from my garden and you can seat them next to you. If anyone asks if you can move them, refuse saying 'he'll go nuts!'.

this was a really fascinating story of the manners of that era woven into an important legal story. The acting was great-no weakness anywhere, but don't think it will be commercial success.

Back from Braehead. Personally I liked this film. A wonderful story to tell with great acting. Though is Tom Felton destined to play the baddie forever more? 7/10

Preference of cinemas:- 1. Glasgow Renfield Street Cineworld, 2. Glasgow Showcase, 3. Braehead Odeon, 4. Vue Fort, 5 Glasgow Springfield Quay, 5. any other cinema in Glasgow area including Hamilton
Also Falkirk, Dunfermline and Stirling but these are rarely used for free previews.

That was my thought too, is he becoming typecast at such a young age?

Whilst I can't see him being the lead in anything I hope he might branch out a bit more like Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson. THere is more to acting than just being the baddie

He seems to have cornered the "sneer" as his main expression which is a shame as I actually think he could do far more. He's a good looking lad and could easily be romantic character at the very least.
