Good story. Shame about the excessive foul language.

I think this helped get the ridiculous amount of passion across

An over-ambitious youth without the slightest empathy or social skills gets bullied into doing better than best!! Sorry it didn't appeal to me at all....

Used to underline the bullying tactics employed.

I saw this last night in Edinburgh. I really enjoyed it! I didn't really know what to expect from it and I'm glad I gave it a chance. Really great performances by Miles Teller and J. K. Simmons. Although it was an almost disturbing dynamic between the characters, I was drawn into the story. The music was mesmerising in the final performance. 9/10

Still not necessary to have that amount. My friend nearly walked out. You can still get the point across without going to the extreme!

I saw this last Tuesday and it's easily my film of the year so far. With taut direction, striking imagery and terrific performances (particularly from J.K. Simmons, who gets to dish out some memorable insults), this is an astute, compelling study of the dangerous path to artistic perfection.
9/10

Really enjoyed this and although Miles Teller is excellent in the central role it's J. K. Simmons that steals the show with a powerful (& now Golden Globe winning) performance as the manipulative & increasingly cruel Terence Fletcher (there's also decent support from the likes of Paul Reiser & Melissa Benoist).
The final scene is more than just a little bit special and overall I thought this was a superb drama that definitely did enough to get a 9/10 from me...

Surely the whole film was about "the extreme". The foul disgusting language was meant to unsettle.
