Thank you c_t. I had a hunch that there would be a comic book origin such as Marvel which would explain the Far Eastern amalgamation and blend. Am still slightly bemused by the two boys having Asian appearance and their aunt? being caucasian, but hey - it's a comic!

Anyone else notice how the main protagonist is named Hiro (which I heard as Hero) and the title of the film is Big HERO 6? Exactly the same as the main character in the TV series Heroes also being called Hiro!
Am guessing Hiro is just a very popular Japanese boy's name.

Cineworld Unlimited is cheating! ;-)

No problem :) I think the boys are supposed to be an Eastern/Caucasian mix, so the aunt can come from the Caucasian side of the family.

I too had to think of Hiro from Heroes and thought that they 'stole' the name, until I did my research and discovered Big Hero 6 dates further back ;)

When I saw the film there was a Q&A afterwards (with the director and a producer iirc) and it was really quite interesting to hear how this movie came to be. When Disney b*ght Marvel they were allowed to go through the back catalogue of characters/stories to find one to adapt into a Disneyfied cartoon. If Big Hero 6 does well (which I think it is?) I hope there will be more Marvel-Disney fusions on the horizon.

fairly derivative of How To Train Your Dragon but that's not a bad thing apart from the very derivative way character expressions are created in these kind of animations. For the adult scifi fans theres the bonus superbot fix to preceed Avengers Ultron (or follow up Ex Machina).

Watch it on the biggest screen you can for the stunning cityscape visuals.
fav 5 films of the year - Tenet, Bill n Ted 3, Invisible Man, JoJo Rabbit, ?

Exactly what I thought lol. Still I thought it was a really good Disney film and the Marvel shot after the credits was pretty good. 8/10

Saw this with a voucher today. Thought it was average. It started well, but I didn't like the second action half and struggled to stay awake. 6/10

P.S. Saw the most awesome trailer for the Minions movie. Laughed my head off.
