Saw this at Vue Piccadilly tonight, was not as full as I expected.

Great supporting cast, Jason Statham plays it straight as an obnoxious agent, Jude Law looking gorgeous, Miranda is Miranda, Rose Byrne is the acid villan, all very funny, totally insane and mad spoof, lots of twists and turns. Well done to Melissa McCarthy, she is actually very good here, girl power and all, making a mockery of spy films. She looked very much like Dawn French in her last outfit. 8/10

Most people missed the end credits at our screening. I thought it was very funny, more mocking of spy films.

Nice to catch up with vealster.

Saw this last night in Kingston; it was about 50% full. A good cast – Melissa McCarthy, Jason Statham, Miranda Hart, Rose Byrne and Jude Law – unfortunately all were typecast and therefore we didn’t get to see any of their acting skills. There were some genuinely funny, laugh-out-loud moments – but for the most part the comedy seemed contrived and slapstick. There were elements of Austin Powers. Johnny English and the Heat but with such a strong cast, it could have been much, much better. I felt it was leading up to Spy 2, which if they simply serve up more of the same, will, IMHO, be a disaster. 5/10

This was better then I expected. I must admit, I haven't seen The Heat but thought Bridesmaids was pretty good... but from the other posters it seems that The Heat is better then this.

Anyway, back to Spy... while this could be made out to be a spoof, I thought it was much better than that, part slapstick comedy/part action. Some good laughs and would recommend to anyone looking to go out and have a laugh and forget your worries for a couple of hours.

An easy to watch film with a lot of laughs. Miranda certainly got a decent length part and was her usual bumbling but amusing self. Liked all the characters and Melissa definitely suits the dark bob...could be Dawn French's sister.

Had not expected much but it delivered more x

I couldn't agree with you more cmerchant. I watched at Shepherds Bush and we were all in stitches...the perfect cure for a damp Tuesday evening!

It did involve McCarthy and Statham and was an outtake right at the very end.

Thought it was a terrible movie though, styleless, lacking in purpose, just the latest excuse to laugh AT Melissa McCarthy. If audiences are happy with that then fair enough.

Finally managed to catch up Spy in Glasgow Braehead tonight which was about 80% full.
I must say that I found the film more entertaining than I expected . . . which is definitely a plus! There were some real laugh out load moments and some other moments which should have been shocking/violent but weren't . . . I loved the different characters which the film included and thought this was one the best films for Melissa McCarthy as she was actually allowed to act in some scenes! Miranda Hart had a reasonable size role considering she is not yet known in the US. A fun night out!
