Re: Easy A
Tuesday's looks like the only preview date as the film opens this Friday - shame there probably won't be time for more, as this is much more to my taste than what has been on offer. I could even have gone to this but had already booked a theatre ticket - grr!
Re: Easy A
Amanda Bynes didn't she say she was retiring from making movies?

Re: Easy A
"he got another coke zero!"
just back from this hilarious teen comedy that. i loved it. it was written for teens and adult who remember misbehaving in their teens. it was witty and intelligent - and i didn't (don't think i have ever) said that about about american bubble gum films. i could sense the writer's (writers'?) subtle criticism of teen life today.
but it is still one for the girls. the man i was with barely smiled whereas i sometimes missed bits as i was laughing so hard.
i also think the videocast and storyboard is a gamechanger. i expect to see it a lot more of it in films from this point forward. 8/10
i can't wait to see it again.

Re: Easy A
I loved it too. Went to Covent Garden which got really pretty full, and wasn't sure at the beginning whether this wouldn't be just another high school movie but it got really good, and Emma Stone as Olive was fantastic! I can't remember seeing her in anything else before but she is definitely someone to look out for! Her liberal parents were a hoot too. ("Is there an Olive here?" "There's a whole jar of them in the fridge!") Liked the modern take on A Scarlet Letter and that she went to see "Ein scharlachroter Buchstabe" at the cinema, trying her hardest to pronounce the title correctly!
And I apologize to valda and ukacpam for not making it 100% clear to the OH that I asked him to keep seats for you!
8/10
P.S. Is twat really such a bad word?

Re: Easy A
Saw this tonight in Edinburgh, which was pretty full.
Thought this was very well done, very amusing in places and really enjoyed the mum and dad's antics too. Think her friendship with her close friend was interesting too. I remember having friends like that too.
Like the others would go and see this again too. shame daughter could not go as she would have liked it but agree not really a film for men.
Nice to see Biggins too
8/10 from us

Re: Easy A
I really loved this. Don't entirely agree that it's not a film for men but then I loved Mean Girls and Clueless too. Smart and funny with a fantastic lead performance from Emma Stone. Some good supporting performances too. Patricia Clarkson and Stanley Tucci were particularly good as the easy going parents. There were loads of excellent one liners ("There's a higher power that will judge you for your indecency". "Tom Cruise?") and it never outstayed it's welcome.
Perhaps some of the subplots didn't completely work. The teacher's relationship breakdown didn't resonate as much as it could have done, partly because Lisa Kudrow was introduced so late into the movie. Also the love interest subplot did feel like an afterthought and the movie probably would have worked just as well without it.
And as enjoyable as the 80's references were, they did kind of highlight that this is a teen movie written by someone in their 30's. Also why do Americans pronounce twat as twot?
But thankfully any faults were easily forgiven due to Emma Stone's performance which elevated this from easy watch to must see.
I'm not sure it would have been half as good with someone else in the role. I think it's fair to say that after Zombieland and now this I expect Emma Stone will be around for a long time.
I will however never see The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn in the same way ever again.
