yeah sometimes if you're waitng for something it's best to check on their page (happened to me when I won tickets to the this is england '86 screening with them). Also you sometimes have to check your @ replies to you (on the right hand side) as thats where tweets to you from people you don't follow appear, not everything pops up on your timeline but if someone has tweeted your @name it'll appear in your @ replies.
Sorry if it sounds confusing you just get the hang of it by spending time on there.
