Tarantino's Western Is Django Unchained

Ready for some QT-flavoured spaghetti?

The rumours have been buzzing like hornets for ages, spurred along by Quentin Tarantino dropping hints for years about wanting to pump out his own version of the classic Spaghetti Westerns. Despite earlier title and casting reports, the official word has now come down thanks to the front page of the script emerging on Twitter – QT’s next project will be called Django Unchained.

There are no real plot details floating around just yet (despite the fact that the script seems to be in the hands of people who could easily spill such things), but given the title, it’ll most likely riff on Sergio Corbucci’s 1966 Spaghetti Western Django, which saw Franco Nero as a Gatling gun-slinger who goes through seven shades of hell.

Nero has been linked to Tarantino’s Western project ever since he talked up the idea, so it’s probable that he’s going to be returning to the role. Unlike some of QT’s other actor obsessions, Nero has been working steadily, and continues to crop up in movies including The Rite and lending his voice to this year’s Cars 2. He also mentioned Inglourious Basterds’ Christoph Waltz being up for a part, and while that has yet to be officially confirmed, it’s a good bet given how well Waltz and Tarantino worked together.

So now we have something to truly look forward to. The plan, apparently, is to kick off shooting in the autumn, which means we could have a Tarantino Western in cinemas next year…

Edinburgh film festival announces initial lineup
David Hare's all-star political thriller Page Eight and Ewan McGregor sci-fi film Perfect Sense among highlights at 2011 festival dogged by negative publicity.

Michael Bay penned to direct "stunning" Blade Runner prequel

http://www.the-shoe-horn.com/entertainm ... er-remake/

“When you consider what Ridley could’ve done on that movie with today’s technology, it dawns on you that the Blade Runner we’ve all seen is really just the tip of the iceberg,” enthused Bay.

Bay. Are you f***ing retarded? Hollywood, stop raping classic films and stop giving Michael Bay jobs. I've had enough.

It is too early for a separate thread as it doesn't open until the end of August but here is a teaser trailer for
Pedro Almodovar's new film The Skin I Live In:
http://www.totalfilm.com/news/the-skin- ... er-trailer

The plot sees plastic surgeon Dr Robert Ledgard (Antonio Banderas) plotting revenge on the man responsible for raping his daughter. Meanwhile, he’s trapped his partner (Elena Anaya) in his basement and delights in tormenting her.

Fox will reboot 'The Flintstones'

Yabba dabba do, Seth MacFarlane will finally achieve his dream! The mastermind behind Family Guy will reboot the classic animated series The Flintstones for Fox.

Fox execs made the announcement at the network’s presentation today in New York. The show will go in production this fall for a 2013 launch. “One of the first things I ever drew was Fred Flintstone,” MacFarlane told advertisers. As for his re-imagination, he said the show has to keep up with the times but some things will remain familiar for old fans. “The characters will look the same but the only thing that will change is the stories,” he said. “What’s the [prehistoric] version of an iPod?”

Dan Palladino (Gilmore Girls) and Kara Vallow (Family Guy) will also serve as exec producers.

In case you’ve been living under a rock (d’oh!), The Flintstones follows two hard-working middle-class families living with the “contemporary conveniences” in the dinosaur-era town of Bedrock. The series centers on Fred Flintstone and his best friend and sidekick Barney.
