Turners Hill is handy for Wakehurst Place and other gardens, but there are lots of lovely places near Chichester, too: West Dean gardens (well, the shop and cafe with terrace are my favourite parts and free to enter); Emsworth (lovely seaside village with lots of seaside paths and several good restaurants); Stansted House and park; Bosham (another attractive seaside village with shops and boat trips); Singleton (Open Air Museum); Fishbourne Roman villa, etc etc.

Re: The Diary Room
There's always a ride at theme parks that don't work! Don't worry Alpa, you're not alone. I've had yearly visits to Thorpe Park for the past 5 years and there is always a ride that doesn't work there. I didn't bother going this year!!! Go soon before the rain catches you!! And use those voucher stuff for bogof deals!!

Re: The Diary Room
Ha ha those vouchers are great but we used a website to get them and you have to put in a date so you get a discount of 50% but you can't cancel else you lose your money.
I hope the weathers good this weekend.
So far I've been to Drayton Manor this year and its actually not bad. The queus were practically non existant. Can't remember the last time I went to Thorpe Park though, I should add that to my summer list. Good Call A_Person. Will let you know which rides down this time.
Has anyone been to Waterworld? I've lived in the UK all my life and only found out about it last year.
Oh also I don't know many people who have heard of Flamingo Land either. I'm from the midlands by the way.

Re: The Diary Room
Yeh I know, I got about 14 of those vouchers in the thought of going to Thorpe Park and then it never went ahead because either my friends were away on holiday (or I was working) or they just started working.
Thorpe Park is good! Does have good rides last time I went so I would recommend it!! (That was last May!). Not been to Waterworld but would love to go!!!
Where is Flamingo Land? Never heard of that one! Always learn a new thing!

Re: The Diary Room
Flamingo Land is in North Yorkshire from memory. I went some time ago with the kids when we were visiting some family.
I can remember that I ended up adopting an animal - can't remember what though as my daughter adopts absolutely everything.
This year we are currently up to 1 dog, 2 cats and 3 donkeys (none from Flamingo Land though)!

Love both Emsworth and Bosham.Ms Thrifty wrote: Emsworth (lovely seaside village with lots of seaside paths and several good restaurants); Stansted House and park; Bosham (another attractive seaside village with shops and boat trips); Singleton (Open Air Museum); Fishbourne Roman villa, etc etc.
I can remember my first trip to Fishbourne was on a school trip but I have been loads of time since with the kids. They always enjoy it. We usually start the day at Bignor Roman Villa (they have a really good mosaic of Medusa) and then travel into Chichester. If you have time do go and see the Cathedral. There are a couple of lunchtime concerts on during September and an Anne Frank exhibition in October.

Re: The Diary Room
Nighmare of nightmares......
Missed a wanted thread by two longstanding members and gave spare tickets to a fairly new member. I was at work and trying to sort before I was spotted by my boss who is in a mare of a mood today!
Not wanting to be disrespectful to any relatively new members but just wished I had spotted the wanted thread as both those members have been good to me in the past.
I apologise profusely!!
