I don't bother with p*y as you go. I have an annual card and I would advise anyone who travels a lot to get one too, as they are cheaper than monthly or weekly ones. Often companies give you travel card loans so you don't have to shell out the whole amount in one go. With an annual oyster card you also get discounts on rail journeys which can be a third off during certain times. If I need the Stansted Express I always show them my Oystercard to get the discount. Make sure you get one before the prices go up again in January.

What I dislike is that kids go free on buses etc. I don't mind well-behaved kids travelling for free but when they are disruptive, abusive and noisy and the bus driver has to stop the bus to try and throw them off etc...
Also, I can understand why they need free buses to get to and from school (although when I was young, I had to p*y my own bus fare), but why do they need free transport say at 11am, when they should already be at school?!
