I wonder how many of the internet/paper/magazine reviews will mention the words "battle royale" in their reviews?

How does the movie differ from the book? (massive spoilers obviously)

Jayman wrote:An odd observation and call me crazy if you will, but even though you guys have all been giving this glowing reviews, everyone seems to have reservations with something or the other. Tsoiboy's review alone (for example) seems to contain no less than 4 negatives and only 2 adequate positives (denoted by the use of the word "fine") yet the scoring is an extremely high 7.5/8.

BTW Not singling you out, Tsoiboy. Most of the other reviewers (here and on other sites) have also followed suit.
Something about this movie seems to have strongly agreed with the viewers despite its highly blatant flaws.

EDIT: I sound like a f**king troll!

yeh its not a good exercise in movie making. But its a solid enough start to a franchise for the fanboys. I started to wish I'd read the book now first.

Its no Fellowship of the Ring, but its definitely better than Harry Potter 1 (which was also a fair start to its franchise before... the plunge downwards), a curious mixture of bad scenes, great fun and the whole spectrum of acting abilties.

If this is their 'Two Towers' then I hope the rest of the franchise can build on it well.

I dont think its quite the kick of Battle Royale, which was a mesmerizing concept when it came out. Kids killing each other with arsenals lol.
fav 5 films of the year - Tenet, Bill n Ted 3, Invisible Man, JoJo Rabbit, ?

I wonder how Gary Ross will cope in Japan where he will no doubt get questioned a gazillion times about Battle Royale?

I see Catching Fire, the next in the series is already slated for the lucrative pre-Thanksgiving slot in 2013, traditionally occupied by Twilight or HP.
