Re: London 2012 Olympics
Well not as spectacular as pxc's OH's Olympics but we got to see the torch today coming up Kingsland Road in Hackney.

Re: London 2012 Olympics
My oh and I finally managed to book some Olympic Game tickets this morning. We were both very happy to grab £20 tickets for athletics.
Unfortunately, my bf selected "collection" instead of "mail delivery". Does anyone know if there are any more conveniently located official box offices (not Stratford...maybe city centre?) where I could pick up the tickets from?

Red Arrows are doing a flypast in Edinburgh at 12.30 on Friday to celebrate plus free events all day in Festival Square under the big TV! Since I work there and can see the TV from my desk that should keep me entertained enough!!!

Re: London 2012 Olympics
This may seem like an odd request but does anyone have (or know anyone who has) a spare ticket to the technical rehearsal of the opening ceremony at the Olympic stadium on Wednesday 25th July?

Re: London 2012 Olympics
I apologise in advance but I have to rant!
So today an olympic committee decided to have a meeting (aka party) at the Royal Opera House. That meant 5 busses, about 50 olympic cars and hundreds of security. I have my car parked outside the opera house and of course they needed to put one of the buses there, so they asked for 2 spaces to be left clear. 2 spaces were clear so I didn't move my car. Of course, when I walked past there was a fine £65.
I move the car a couple of streets down, then go off on my day. When I walk by again at 8pm, there is a handwritten sign saying to leave the bay clear from 3pm to 10pm, my car is no longer there...I walk around the block trying to find someone, that can tell me anything about my car and eventually find a warden who tells me they moved my car 4 streets down.
Oh, and to add insult to injury, with all these road modifications, I can no longer zoom into university avoiding the congestion charge as I used to, because they've blocked the one and only road I used.
So all in all, the games haven't started and I am not a happy lady.
Apologies again for the rant.

I do feel for you. Hopefully you can write an appeal and complaint to get your fine overturned. I can imagine how you felt not being able to find you car either. Very upsetting

Re: London 2012 Olympics
Sorry to hear that PeachyLolipop. I know it is no consolation but at least your car was not towed away and put in a pound miles from anywhere and you cannot get it back unless you p*y the towed penalty. At the time I had just returned from shopping in Mothercare with a 2 year old in a buggy, and when my car was not found where I left it, I rang the police as my first thought was that it had been stolen! And they told me that they had towed it away to a car pound because I was parked too close to the end of a road - but I have always parked there when shopping at Mothercare with no problems, but Westminster Council decided they needed to make more money out of innocent car owners. It cost me a fortune to get my car back, as I had to take a taxi and p*y the fine on the spot to release my car.
