We were also at The Comedy of Errors but didn't spot any FMUKers there but figured there were some about so thanks for confirming pxc. We enjoyed it too.

I also caught a comedy of errors, but instead at Stratford Picture house for the live broadcast. Found it very funny, Lenny Henry and the rest of the cast were fantastic, and when my dad says he enjoys something it means a lot. Thanks again to cliveas for the tickets!

I thought Comedy of Errors had a slow start, tried to bank in on some cheap jokes (the farting comes to mind) and just wasn't as funny as it could have been. However, it had a very redeeming second half (albeit with a very cheesy ending) that makes me adjust my overall score from a 5 to a 6.5/10.

And at beginning they mentioned benedict cumberbatch. From Sherlock will be in the next nt live. Have to look out for that One. I love him.

They are showing the films of Frankenstein again -- Benedict Cumberbatch and Johnny Lee Miller starred and took turns playing Frankenstein. They aren't doing the play again ansbro so sorry but you'll not be seeing Benedict live.

I's a great play which I've seen several times in theatre as well as in cinema, it's well worth checking out the broadcast too :)

Hay Fever was absolutely brilliant!!! It is very witty, quirky and partly insane but very well produced.
The characters were excellent and well played.
It's now one of my top theatre experiences. (glad I didn't take notice of some earlier FMUK reviews as was tempted to shelve the idea of going)

Oh shoot, I'd written off watching it, but now I am getting tempted again!

I thoroughly enjoyed A Comedy of Errors, 10/10 for the amazing set, I have no idea how they managed to make so may variations of rooms houses apartments etc. And they weren't just frontage, cos you could actually see the people inside the rooms doing strange things with whips etc .

I love the Romanian band coming on, with great versions of modern tunes, especially the farcical part with the Madness song and the Benny Hill chase

The cast were great especially Dromio and the Sisters. lenny was rather good, especially as he hated Shakespeare until recently. Although parts of his performance were like his old comedy style, he still brought something more to the table.

This is a (short) review of a screening, but since it was originally a theatre show I guess it fits in this topic? I don't know where else to post it and didn't want to create a new topic just for my review as it was a screening for a DVD release so it's not even opening in cinemas.

Anyway, I saw Love Never Dies at the Mayfair Hotel last night and I am glad I eventually was able to make it! The drinks were a bit so so, there were no canapes ( ) or goodie bags, but I recently saw Phantom in theatres for the first time and was eager to see its much slammed sequel.

I didn't think it was as bad as I assumed it to be based on reviews (which may have something to do with the fact that we saw the Australian production which - according to Andrew Lloyd Webber, who briefly introduced the screening - was better received to begin with). The songs were wonderful and some of them more pop/rock than the Phantom of the Opera, which I really enjoyed. The setting was really bizarre and took some time to get used to but I liked the overall storyline despite the overdramatized ending and the fact that this story ruined the character of Raoul

The actress playing Christine was absolutely terrible (I must not be meant to see a "good" Christine, the one I saw in Phantom was bad too) but her voice, and the others, were stunning, and that's what this show is all about anyway.

The DVD ended a bit abrupt, before even the bows, which was strange.

In short: Glad I made it, but I won't go out of my way to see again!

Thanks to Kotoranka, I saw Hay Fever last night and really enjoyed it. Interesting to compare it with the version done less than 18 months ago by the Rose Theatre at Kingston (mentioned by jeancomp - thanks pxc!) and, whilst naturally different, they were both enjoyable in their way. We must have been lucky with our seats as we were in row L, which seemed to be full of SFF guests, as other adjacent rows may also have been. I've heard comments that this play is untypical of Noel Coward and that some people have enjoyed it less as a result, but whether it is or not, I positively prefer it to some of the others, which imho are put on far too often - Blithe Spirit, for instance. But then, he did write some great parts for older women and there are so many good actresses capable of playing them.

Just wanted to say that I went to watch Happy New at the Old Red Lion last night, and if any more tickets come up, you should give it a go. Okay, it's a little overly verbose here and there and sometimes seems to drift between real life, a dream world, and stylised theatre, but I enjoyed it very much. There was some great acting by the three members of the cast, and as someone who works as an actress, I always think that it's worth trying out some of these off west end shows, and support those not at the glitzy end of the showbiz ladder. It also gives you the chance to see some really good acting up close! I may be a newbie, but I'm enjoying being on here already. Thank you guys!
